HARDY was involved in a serious tour bus accident last year when the bus ran off the highway and flipped into the woods, and while he has physically recovered, the accident is still affecting the singer today. In October 2023, he canceled multiple shows after dealing with anxiety and panic attacks that landed him in the hospital, and he opened up about how he was feeling at the time during a recent interview with SiriusXM.
The Singer/Songwriter Opened Up About Crippling Anxiety
“It’s kind of amazing what your body holds onto, and anybody that’s ever dealt with trauma in their life… it was completely subconscious,” the “TRUCK BED” singer explained, adding that “coming up on a year” of the accident, “just kinda out of nowhere I had a lot of crippling, it was really hard to explain, a couple of really hard days and I had no idea where they were coming from.”
“I needed a moment to step away and work on myself, figure some things out, deal with some trauma from that and from other things,” he continued, thanking his fans for the support they showed him. “At the end of the day, I just want to say thank you to you guys for being patient and showing the love. Thank you.”
Breaks The Silence, Encourages Fans To Talk About Their Feelings
HARDY added that no one should be ashamed for experiencing anxiety and encouraged fans to talk about how they’re feeling.
“There’s nothing to be ashamed of,” he said. “What I’ve learned is that anxiety is an emotion. Everybody in this room gets jealous, everybody in this room gets happy, they get sad, and it’s completely okay and not embarrassing at all to get anxious. It’s part of being a human being.”
He added that he feels “like this has happened for a reason because I wanna be a voice for people who maybe are afraid to admit, or ashamed to admit, that they go through that shit because it’s really hard, and it’s really hard on you.”
“If you don’t talk about it or get help, it can weigh on you really bad and bad things can happen from that,” HARDY noted. “I think it’s important to feel comfortable to talk about it, because I have it and I have friends that have it, celebrities, some are vocal, some are not. It’s something that a lot of people have and a lot of people deal with. It’s okay to talk about.”
Becoming THE CROW Short Film
In 2023, HARDY released his album the mockingbird & THE CROW in January and embarked on his headlining the mockingbird & THE CROW Tour, which wrapped this month. This week, the singer revealed that he will be releasing a short film, becoming THE CROW, which will chronicle the latest era of his career.
“Nobody ever made rules to music,” HARDY says in the trailer for the project, which will be released on YouTube on January 11. “There’s not a rule book to music. Rule-breakers are some of the biggest artists of all time and the people that have done something that have never been done before — which, I truly believe, that you can do whatever the f—k you want.”
the mockingbird & THE CROW is a split album with a country side and rock side, a duality that HARDY believes best represents his sound.
“I hope that in five years, when I have three or four records out, that somebody will be like, ‘If you wanna know who HARDY is, go listen to the mockingbird & THE CROW,’” HARDY continues. “It’s an era of my life and my artistry that has perfectly encapsulated who I am.”
