Jon Pardi has given up drinking for the time being, sharing during a recent appearance on Amazon Music’s Country Heat Weekly podcast that he is 112 days sober. Pardi noted that health issues contributed to his decision, as he had learned that he was pre-diabetic.

Why Did Jon Pardi Stop Drinking?

“I’ve been 112 days sober,” he said. “I’ve lost a bunch of weight. I was pre-diabetic, and I was just like, ‘I gotta stop.’”

The 38-year-old noted that he considers himself in “retirement” from drinking, a decision that could change.

“I will say I’m retired. Doesn’t mean I can’t come out of retirement, but for right now it’s been great,” he said. “It just fell off my face and I really was getting to the point where every picture, every video, I was so unhappy with myself, and it was just like, where I was going, I needed to just take a break.”

Encourages Fans To Stop Drinking

Pardi added that he just did a photoshoot and thought to himself, “Damn, I look good! Take that, Titos!”

“For anybody that’s thinking about it, if they want to lose weight, and you do drink, let me tell you, it does help tremendously if you stop,” he said, though he’s found that without alcohol, he has a different kind of craving. “Then you get the ice cream, sugar cravings. Let me tell you, I love me some ice cream,” he shared. “That’s why I’m like, ‘Well, I’m not drinking, I better get this Twix candy bar ice cream. Coffee ice cream.”

Jon Pardi’s New Year’s Resolution

Additionally, the singer/songwriter shared that self-care, specifically facial care, is his New Year’s resolution for 2024, and when co-host Kelly Sutton asked him what he’s hoping to do next year, Pardi jokingly replied, “Botox!”

He had previously shared that seeing women around him, specifically his wife, Summer, engage in extensive skincare routines had inspired him to try his own. “I know you probably take like 15 minutes before you go to bed every night,” he told Sutton and Amber Anderson. “Summer is in there doing whatever the hell she does. She’s like, ‘You need to put your facial lotion on.’ And I’m like, ‘I got great skin.’”

“Because I have been, wake up, wash my face, put face lotion on,” he continued, “now, you gotta get that night cream.”

The Singer Has A New Album On The Way In 2024

Jon Pardi will also be working on a new album in 2024, produced by Jay Joyce, though he noted that he needs to switch his artist brain off for the holidays and take a bit of a break before fully diving into his new project.

“The next year is all about new music. Awesome songs, awesome record, just something fresh for everybody. I want to come out with this whole new thing [and] I just want people to be like, ‘damn, that’s good,” Pardi shared. “I believe you get to a point where you’re like, everything’s good, you’re riding. And you could do that, or you could just be like, hey, let’s switch vehicles for a little bit and see what this one does. So I can’t tell you what it’s gonna be, but my goals for ‘24 is to just be bigger than I thought I would be, bigger and better. And have glowing skin.”

Furthermore, Jon Pardi was on the show to promote his Christmas record, Merry Christmas From Jon Pardi, which was released in October. He celebrated with a Christmas show at the Beacon Theater in New York City on December 16 and is thinking about a holiday tour for next year.
