Granger Smith and his wife Amber are expecting a baby boy!
On Thursday, March 11, the Smith’s shared a video sharing a special message honoring their late son, River, and thanking him and God for their forthcoming bundle of joy that is expected to arrive late this Summer.
“Dear River, because of the life you’ve lived, we’ve known so much joy,” Smith said in a video shared to Instagram, that included his wife Amber Smith and their children, London and Lincoln.
“River, because of the life you lived, we laughed a whole lot,” Lincoln said before London added, “And because of the life you lived, we’ve cried a bunch too.”
Smith and his wife concluded the video with a special message to their late son, River. “Dear River, because of the life you lived, we’ve grown closer to God,” Smith added before Amber concluded the clip saying, “And God gave a us a miracle, sweet Riv, because of the life you lived, very soon, you’re going to have a baby brother.”
“I don’t have many words for this video. Life isn’t perfect. Sometimes it’s beat up and broken but it’s NEVER hopeless. God promises that,” The “Hate You Like I Love You” singer captioned the video. “Our story isn’t finished yet, and neither is yours! Through our suffering and joy, God’s glory radiates through it all!”

“God has made a way we never thought possible. If I’ve learned anything over the last two years, it’s that I do not have as much control as I think I do,” Smith’s wife Amber captioned the same video. “Never did I think at 39 I would be blessed with expecting another baby boy. These past couple of years have been so rough but also so full of so much joy, hope, healing, growing and grace from God. Lord, I pray that our story can speak life to someone else who may be suffering to never give up hope. To surrender their burdens to you. To trust you even when it hurts.”
“Sweet Riv, because of the beautiful life you lived, we are forever changed and we will continue honoring your big, little legacy until we come home to you,” Amber added.
The Smiths’ baby boy is due in August 2021, just two months after the second anniversary of the death of their third child, River.
Baby Boy Smith is the couple’s fourth child, following London, 9, Lincoln, 7 and their late son, River.
