Dolly Parton surprised her husband Carl with a reimagined Playboy cover shoot in a bunny suit for his birthday.

On Tuesday (July 20), the iconic country superstar shared a just over a minute long video on her Instagram dressed in a black Playboy bunny suit, similar to the one she was wearing during her October 1978 cover shoot with Playboy Magazine at the age of 32.

“It’s always #HotGirlSummer for my husband, Carl 💝 Happy birthday my love!” Parton captioned the clip.

In the clip, Parton tells the story of how she surprised her husband today for his birthday before showing fans a photo of the surprise reveal of the photoshoot to her husband of 57 years.

“Hey, Today is July 20, it’s my husband Carl’s birthday. And you’re probably wondering why I’m dressed like this, well it’s for my husband’s birthday,” Parton explained. “Remember sometime back I said I was going to pose in Playboy Magazine when I’m 75? Well, I’m 75 and they don’t have a magazine anymore but my husband always loved the original cover of Playboy. So, I was trying to think of something to do to make him happy. He still thinks I’m a hot chick after 57 years and I’m not going to try to talk him out of that and I hope he agrees. What do you think? Anyway what I did for his birthday, I did a photoshoot in this little outfit and I had a cover made of the new Dolly or the old new Dolly.”

The legendary entertainer then joked that back in 1978 she looked like a butterball and now she’s like a piece of string cheese.

“In the first one, see remember this? I was kind of a little butterball in that one. Well, I’m string cheese now but he’ll probably think I’m cream cheese, I hope,” Parton added with a wink.

“Anyway, I’m going to surprise him going in singing to him in my little bunny suit, so what do you think? You think Playboy oughta pay me for at least a photoshoot? I do!” she continued to joke.

Last year, In an interview with Scott Mills & Chris Stark Show on BBC Radio 5, Parton hinted that she wanted to pose for Playboy again in honor of her 75th birthday. When they asked her to confirm the rumor, she said “Well, there’s some truth in that.”

“I just might do it. If I can do it in good taste and they [Playboy] want it, we’ll do it along with a really good interview inside,” Parton told Mills and Stark. “So, yeah, it’s possible. Yep, we’ve talked about it.”

In March of 2020, Parton told 60 Minutes Australia, “I don’t plan to retire. I just turned 74 and I plan to be on the cover of Playboy magazine again, See I did Playboy magazine years ago and I thought it’d be such a hoot if they’ll go for it — I don’t know if they will — if I could be on the cover again when I’m 75.”

The outlet also asked her if she would recreate the cover with the same iconic outfit, which the “Jolene” singer said “Maybe!” Later adding, “I could probably use it, Boobs are still the same.”

When asked if she would recreate the original cover with the same outfit, the “Jolene” singer replied, “Maybe!”
