Released New Album, Carolyn’s Boy
Darius Rucker recently released his eighth studio album, Carolyn’s Boy, marking his first solo album in six years. The 14-track project, which follows 2017’s When Was the Last Time, serves as a tribute to his late mother, Carolyn, and features his current single “Fires Don’t Start Themselves,” the No. 1 hit “Beers And Sunshine,” and more, including a collaboration with rising trio Chapel Hart as well as Rucker’s powerful take on the Rihanna ballad “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Carolyn’s Boy also includes tracks co-penned by Ed Sheeran, HARDY, Old Dominion’s Brad Tursi, Lady A’s Charles Kelley along with Nashville heavy hitters like Ross Copperman, Ashley Gorley and Josh Osborne.
Penning 11 tracks on the album, Rucker continues to write about his life. “A lot of growing up has happened in the last six years to write about,” he previously explained during an interview with Music Mayhem. “This record’s got a lot of personal songs on it. A lot of moments where I think I let my guard down.”
Recently Honored With Hollywood Walk of Fame Star
Additionally, Rucker was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in his acceptance speech, he confessed that it was the most significant moment of his life.
“I said before that this is stuff you don’t even dream about when you’re from South Carolina, you know, struggling growing up and just wanting to be a singer. That’s all I ever wanted to be was a singer, but you never dreamed that this stuff is going to happen.” Rucker continued, “To be here, right here with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, I said over there it’s the biggest thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Rucker first found fame as lead singer and rhythm guitarist of Hootie & the Blowfish, who have sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, including their Double Diamond-certified debut Cracked Rear View. In the mid-aughts, Rucker went country, releasing his first country album in 2008 and going on to earn 10 No. 1 singles at country radio, four No. 1 albums on the Billboard Country chart and 11 Gold, Platinum or multi-Platinum certified hits.
