Dan + Shay won an award ahead of the iHeartRadio Music Awards during their appearance on the red carpet!

The superstar country duo, comprised of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, were named Best Duo/Group on Thursday, May 27. Red carpet host Elvis Duran surprised Smyers and Mooney during an interview. The duo was shocked when he told them the news, in fact they even asked if he was joking.

“Are you kidding? What, no way,” Mooney said before Smyers chimed in, “No way.”

“This is definitely a prank, are you serious?” Smyers added. “I’m honestly completely in shock right now,” Mooney exclaimed.

Smyers went on to explain to Duran that before they hit the carpet he was thinking “there’s no chance we are winning this,” before admitting “this is insane.”

Also nominated in the category was Jonas Brothers, Maroon 5, BTS and Twenty One Pilots.

The duo are also set to perform during the broadcast.

The 2021 iHeartRadio Awards will also feature performances from The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson.Paak), Usher, Doja Cat, and Demi Lovato, H.E.R. & Brandi Carlile honored Elton John with a special tribute.

In addition to the performers, the iHeartRadio Awards will include a star-studded list of special appearances from LL Cool J, Chris Martin, Lil Nas X, Nelly, Machine Gun Kelly, French Montana, Lil Jon, Robin Thicke, Joel McHale, Oliver Stark, Ryan Guzman, Gabby Barrett, Ava Max, Raphael Saadiq, AJR, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Roddy Ricch, twenty one pilots as well as Megan Thee Stallion.
