Dan + Shay have broken their silence to explain why they have been absent from social media for the last few months.

On Tuesday (Mar. 21), the award-winning pop country duo, comprised of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, took to social media to detail the reason why they have been absent from social media.

“Hi, we’ve been quiet on social media lately but wanted to check in and let y’all know we’re alive,” the duo wrote, acknowledging that they have not updated their social media since January 10, 2023.

Working On Their Fifth Studio Album

They went on to explain that they’re currently working on their fifth studio album, which will serve as the follow-up to 2021’s Good Things.

”We’ve been spending every single day in the studio working on a new album that we can’t wait for you to hear,” Smyers and Mooney shared collectively.

Dan + Shay then showcased their gratitude for the fan’s support over the last decade and teased that their new album is some of their “best work yet.”

“The last 10 years have been the most incredible ride thanks to your support, so we feel the responsibility to bring you our best work yet,” the pair continued. ”We’ve written songs, recorded songs, written more songs, recorded more songs, and feel so good about how things are shaping up. As soon as it’s ready, you’ll be the first to know.”

“Thank y’all so much for being patient with us while we prepare for the next chapter. It truly means the world. Stay tuned for more updates soon!” their message concluded.

“You” Is Currently Climbing The Charts At Country Radio

The pair also let fans know that their current single, “You,” has “been climbing the charts” thanks to their friends at Country radio, while also reminding them to keep requesting the tune at their local stations.

Co-written by Dan Smyers alongside Jordan Reynolds and Dave Barnes, “You” is the chart-topping duo’s latest single at Country radio. The tune finds Smyers and Mooney singing about a love story that will stand the test of time. Throughout the pop country song, Mooney takes the soaring lead vocals as Smyers flawlessly harmonizes with his bandmates’ powerhouse pipes.

“I got you, ooh, ooh / For the rest of my days / In the sun of Sunday morning / Or the pouring rain / I got you, ooh, ooh / For the rest of my life / And if all else goes wrong, baby / I’ll be alright / ‘Cause I got you,” the pair sing on the tune’s chorus.

Dan + Shay have previously dubbed the tune, “Speechless part 2,” during an interview with Taste Of Country Nights.

“‘Speechless’ was about seeing your wife walk down the aisle for the first time and that moment, and this is that second part,” Mooney previously explained of the track. “[‘You’ is] this forever love. This is down the road of, ‘I’ve got you and only you for the rest of our life.’”
