American Idol season 19 winner Chayce Beckham said judge Luke Bryan has been “really good to him” following his victory on the show.
“He’s been really good to me,” Beckham said of the country singer in a recent interview with Hollywood Life. “I appreciate him so much,” Beckham continued. “It’s an open door, pretty much. Anything I need, I can call him. If I need advice or help with something or I just wanna go fish, I can call him up.”
Beckham also shared that he’s bonded with Bryan over their mutual love of fishing and country music and that he’s always welcome to fish at Bryan’s house.
“I couldn’t even tell you how many times I’ve been [to Luke Bryan’s house],” Beckham explained. “How many people can say they get to do that kind of stuff? I was a blue collar worker, a normal dude down the street, and now I get to fish in Luke Bryan’s private spot when I want to. It’s a huge blessing,” he added.
In addition, Beckham revealed that Bryan has “taken care of him” since he’s moved to Nashville.
“Him and his family and everyone who works for him have been good to me and made me feel like family,” he said. “It’s been great and I’m lucky to have that relationship.”
Besides discussing his relationship with Bryan, Beckham shared more information about his six song EP, Doin’ It Right, which includes his Lindsay Ell collaboration, “Can’t Do Without Me.”
Beckham said it was difficult to narrow the EP down to just six songs but the six he chose “just told a good storyline of stuff going on in people’s lives.” He also shared that Bryan told him that he needed to sing “some happy stuff.”
The Apple Valley native told Hollywood Life that he’s still “got some gas in the tank” for a follow-up album and songs he’s “really eager to still get out.”
In the meantime, Beckham is currently on the road with Jimmie Allen and later this year he’ll be hitting the road with Luke Combs for a Canadian tour.
Earlier in the month, Beckham went fishing with fellow country singer, Dierks Bentley on Bryan’s lake in Tennessee.
“We caught quite a few,” Beckham recently told People of he and Bentley’s fishing adventures. “It was the first time I met Dierks. He’s really a nice guy. I just thought it was funny because every time I fish with a country celebrity, they always leave by some form of aircraft. And that’s exactly what Dierks did.”
Beckham said he didn’t “ever anticipate getting there” about becoming friends with Bryan.
“I’m very appreciative of him and all the support he’s given me and direction,” Beckham explained. “It’s not somebody that you would anticipate becoming your friend, you know, he’s just such a big celebrity. He was so kind to me, him and his family; his wife, Caroline, his boys and his nephews and everybody. They’re all the nicest people and treated me like family, anytime I see ’em and welcome me into their home… I’m lucky to be able to say that he’s my friend.”
