In the first episode of Underwood’s Apple Music Country’s XO Radio show, the country superstar not only gushed over her love for Randy Travis, but told fans some of her favorite rock bands and even revealed that if she could could like any artist, it would be Dolly Parton.
“If you ask me to talk about one artist that I want to be like,” Underwood explained. “not just in music or voice or not just in any one area, I would choose Dolly Parton.”
She says that there are many reasons as to why she wish could be like her and it is not just her music or voice.
Underwood says, “For so many reasons; obviously incredible writer, vocalist, entertainer, she blazed such a trail for all of us women who are in country music right now. She’s done everything, she has just set the bar and she has done it with grace and class and humility.”
The superstar reflected on her time with Parton during the CMA Awards prep, sitting on the same couch with her making up material for the show and says she hopes that some of Parton’s greatness rubbed off on her.
“Getting to be around her last year during the CMAs and just sit on the same couch with her and talk with her and come up with material and be on stage with her, I mean how is this my life? How do I get to be that close to greatness? I just hope some of it rubbed off on me.”
