Carrie Underwood recalled meeting country Icon Loretta Lynn for the first time.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the country superstar said that her most memorable backstage encounter with another artist was when she first met Loretta Lynn. The interview comes as a celebration of the Grand Ole Opry’s 95th Birthday in which 20 country superstars shared some of their favorite memories.
Underwood said that she was “talking to Vince Gill” when somebody walked passed her and smacked her on the rear.
“I was talking to Vince Gill (just name-dropping here!), and somebody walked by me and smacked my rear,” Underwood explained.
She continue to elaborate on the moment saying that it “definitely” caught her off guard for a second before she turned around. Upon turning around she seen that it was Lynn.
“It definitely caught me off guard for a second, and then I turned around, and that was my first time meeting Ms. Loretta Lynn!” Underwood said.
The “Cry Pretty” singer also described her first time stepping into the Opry circle as “Magical.”
