Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert are two of the biggest female stars in country music. And oftentimes, when two people share the same dream and have similar successes, they become the topic of comparison.
“I Have So Much Respect For [Miranda]”
But, those observations don’t seem to stand in the way of Underwood, 40, or Lambert, 39, as they have nothing but love for each other. Underwood recently proved that during an episode on her newly launched SiriusXM channel called Carrie’s Country, in which she shared her respect for the “If You Were Mine” singer/songwriter.
“I have so much respect for [Miranda] and the things that she’s accomplished, the songs she writes, the songs she chooses. We’re sisters in this together, man,” Underwood said, complimenting her friend on her year-round channel. “I hope she knows I’m always in her corner; I think she is always in mine.”
“I Love Her And I Really Respect That She Is Who She Is”
Underwood insinuated how she and Lambert came up in the same class in the early 2000s following their respective runs on reality competition shows. (Underwood won Season 4 of American Idol while Lambert scored third place on USA Network’s Nashville Star). She spoke about how she’s proud of the accomplishments they have both made throughout the years and also commended Lambert for sticking to who she is and remaining authentically herself despite anyone’s persuasion to try to put her into a box.
“I’m proud to see us still kickin’ it after all these years. I love her and I really respect that she is who she is and has never deviated from that,” Underwood beamed. “And she’s never tried to fit anybody else’s box that they might try to put her in. She does what she wants. I respect that very much.”
This isn’t the first time Underwood has shown her support for Lambert. On May 4, the “Hate My Heart” songstress took to Instagram to rave about Lambert’s first-ever book, Y’ALL EAT YET? Welcome to the Pretty B*tchin’ Kitchen.
“Look what I just got! My tummy is excited!” Underwood wrote of the gift she received from Lambert, “Thanks, @mirandalambert, and congrats!!!”
Performed Together In 2014
Along with showing love for Lambert, Underwood has received sweet words from her buddy. In 2019, as nominations were going up for the CMA Entertainer of the Year award, Lambert took to Instagram, sharing a promo image from their 2014 Grammy-nominated “Somethin’ Bad” collaboration, and reasoned why Underwood was worthy of the win.
“It’s fall weather in Nashville! Sitting here on my porch, I realize with the chill in the air that it’s getting closer to Nov[ember], which means my birthday month and @CMAawards final voting time. Entertainer Of The Year is the big one. So I’m gonna share my two cents. 💙,” Lambert captioned. “…. 💗 Carrie – The Entertainer Of The Year. Because… Currently being on tour with all female artists, I’ve been thinking a lot about all the work that goes into what we do. The most amazing job in the world.”
Lambert added, “But it ain’t for the faint of heart. @carrieunderwood is on an all-female tour too. The Cry Pretty Tour 360. She put out her first single in 2005, and from then on, country music was changed for good. That iconic voice has been classin’ up our stages, charts, and televisions for a decade and a half. The Voice. The legs. The songs. The brand. The mom. The wife. The okie. The Jesus lover. The blonde bombshell that is Carrie. She blows me away every time I hear her sing.”
“She never wavers in who she is or what she stands for,” she continued. “She has stayed true & pushed herself to be better. If you have never heard her sing “How Great Thou Art,” do yourself a favor and listen. I have her back in this picture. I’ll always have her back. So for the sake of sequins, Spanx, and spray tans, take it home! You Carrie the torch! 😉#Carrieon#EOTY.”
