Carrie Underwood adopted a new rescue puppy!

The country superstar took to social media on Sunday (Feb. 12) to introduce fans to the “newest member” of her family.

“Meet Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Nilla Fisher…” Underwood wrote alongside several snapshots of her new pup. “I met her in Charlotte when the lovely people at @pincdogrescue brought some puppies to the venue to make us all smile.”

”We had been looking for the right pup for our family for a while and she seemed just too good to be true!” She continued.

Charlotte joins Underwood’s two other fur babies, Penny Jean and Zero, as well as her sons, Isaiah, 7, and Jacob, 4. The “Hate My Heart” singer also shared that their new addition is getting along with everyone else in the house.

“She is happy at home playing with her boys…and Penny and Zero have responded well and are getting to know their new sister…” she added, before showcasing gratitude for the shelter she adopted the pup from. ”Thank you, Pawsitive Impact NC Dog Rescue for all the incredible work you do, and thanks for bringing this sweet girl into our lives!”

Underwood first announced the news that she adopted a puppy during her Denim & Rhinestones tour date in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday (Feb. 8). In the midst of her headlining concert, she told the crowd that she “adopted a puppy” and asked the audience to keep it a secret.

“Don’t tell my children. It’s a surprise,” Underwood said. “[My kids have] been wanting one for a while, and we’ve been looking for one for a while and I think we found — well, I know we found — our girl.”

The news comes nearly a year after the passing of Underwood’s beloved dog, Ace, who died in April of 2022.

“Last night, my sweet Ace left this world…he will forever live on in our hearts and be forever missed,” Underwood wrote at the time. ”He was there for me when I was on my own trying to figure out life when it was at its craziest!”

She went on to explain that Ace, who was a rescue dog, has been through thick and thin with Underwood and her family.

”He was with me through 3 houses, 6 tours and 2 kids…always ready to snuggle and play…through all the highs and lows,” she added. ”He was a true friend and a good boy till the very end. I love you, sweet Ace…see you on the other side…💔”

The late pup played an important role in various milestone moments throughout Underwood’s life, including escorting her down the aisle during her and husband, Mike Fisher’s, wedding.

“He’ll be one of the ring bearers – he’s like my kid,” Underwood told PEOPLE in July 2010. “Ace is such a big part of my life.”

In addition to partaking in her and Fisher’s special day, Ace also helped the “Ghost Story” singer announce her first pregnancy.

The eight-time GRAMMY winner is a longtime supporter of animal adoption. In 2009, she founded The C.A.T.S. Foundation (Checotah Animal, Town, and School Foundation) to support her hometown of Checotah, Oklahoma.
