A brand-new era of Camila Cabello has begun, beginning with her bombastic performance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. Performing just moments after Lenny Kravitz delivered a show-stopping medley, Cabello undoubtedly kept the crowd going, performing her newest tune to all attendees at UBS Arena.

To begin the performance, the former Fifth Harmony member was seemingly going to sing “June Gloom,” with the camera quickly revealing that she was actually watching an old video on the computer of herself singing the song. She then slammed the laptop shut to reveal a new and improved version of Camila Cabello, beginning her emotional performance of “GODSPEED” instead.

As for what the performance entailed exactly, Cabello found herself in a rotating glass room, seemingly staring into the souls of VMAs viewers by looking directly into the lens of the camera, even grabbing said camera every once in a while to increase the overall passion of the performance.

After singing almost the entire track in the room, the 27-year-old made a statement by smashing the laptop and jumping out, finishing her performance on the VMAs stage alongside some spooky background dancers.

With her ex-boyfriend, Shawn Mendes, in the crowd — as well as Sabrina Carpenter, who he allegedly had a fling with while they were briefly broken up — it is safe to say that Cabello’s bad b***h energy (for lack of a better phrase) was on full display tonight, paving the way for a future of savage songs.

Camila Cabello made a major transformation on the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet

While her performance was nothing short of sensational, Cabello made headlines for another reason earlier in the evening, leaving her blonde bombshell era once and for all.

Donning some luscious blonde locks all summer long, the “June Gloom” singer stepped out onto the red carpet at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards in an entirely different aesthetic, serving as the epitome of gothic glam.

To the surprise of fans all across the country, Cabello rocked a black, beaded wedding gown — which featured a pattern reminiscent of cobwebs — accessorized with a black veil and chunky cross pendants. The entire look was filled with texture, creating an intricate ensemble that definitely turned heads, which we later learned was a teaser into her performance that evening.

Looking like Wednesday Addams — wearing simple makeup consisting of a nude lip and a sultry smoky eye — the real star of the show was her hair, returning to her dark roots once and for all.

Is Camila Cabello nominated at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards?

Aside from her phenomenal performance and thrilling transformation, Cabello is also nominated for two awards at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. The categories for said awards consist of Best Pop Artist and Best Trending Video for “I LUV IT” (featuring Playboi Carti), but only time will tell whether or not she gets to bring home a “Moon Person” of her own.

After her performance, she proved to be as deserving as can be!
