Ashley McBryde faced a major disappointment as she was forced to suddenly cancel her highly anticipated performance at the Hodag Country Festival, which was set to take place on Saturday (July 8) in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

The GRAMMY award-winning country star took to social media to share a statement with her fans, letting them know the unfortunate news that she is unable to make it to the festival due to technical issues with her tour bus.

“Our bus took a shit last night trying to leave Bay City. Our drivers have been up all night trying everything in the book, but she’s still not starting up. We’re dead in the water,” McBryde shared. “We are gutted that we won’t be able to get to you at Hodag tonight. It’s one of our favorite festivals to play.”

She then went on to ask fans to send positive vibes.

“Shoot us prayer or a chant or meditation. Whatever your chosen method may be for sending good juju,” McBryde continued.

“I Hope We Can Get Back To You Soon”

The cancellation not only affected McBryde, but also left her band, Deadhorse, and crew disheartened. They had prepared for an unforgettable performance, only to be halted by the unforeseen mechanical issue. Despite their disappointment, they sent a message of love and gratitude to their fans, emphasizing their desire to return and make it up to them.

“I hope we can get back up to you soon,” McBryde added. “Big big love from The Deadhorse boys and myself,” she concluded, signing off as “Ash.”

The Hodag Country Festival also took to social media to update concertgoers on the situation, writing, “Unfortunately we have to announce that Ashley McBryde is not able to make it today and needed to cancel. Fortunately, the other performers today have agreed to extend their shows to keep the entertainment going all day.”

HARDY will now take the stage at 9PM at the event and will serve as the headliner.

“Made For This”

The news comes just one day after Ashley McBryde gave fans a taste of her highly-anticipated new album, The Devil I Know, with the release of the album’s opening track, “Made For This.”

Penned by McBryde and Travis Meadows, “Made For This” beautifully captures the relentless pursuit of a dream, showcasing the enduring spirit and determination that propels artists through the countless late nights spent on their journey.

“Travis Meadows and I wrote ‘Made For This,’ and at the time, I was still touring in a van and he was using his truck, so we definitely had touring and the life of musicians top of mind,” McBryde shared. “But this song reaches beyond that. It’s not just touring musicians and bands and crews who are on the road 200+ days a year who are ‘calling home for a telephone goodnight kiss.’ It’s also members of our military, our truck drivers and those that work long or odd hours sacrificing time with their family. We’re lucky we’re made for this.”

The tune eloquently captures the trials and tribulations of chasing a dream, painting a vivid picture of the challenges and resilience that come with pursuing one’s passion.

“Cause most days you’re stuck in a truck / One big break from blowing up / But one of these days you’re gonna get a bus / And let somebody else drive / But right now it’s just Adderall, alcohol / Your dressing room is a bathroom stall / ‘Cause you turn it on when the big man calls / ‘Cause he ain’t gonna call you twice / And it’s calling home for a telephone goodnight kiss / Ya gotta be made for this,” McBryde sings on the chorus.

New Album,The Devil I Know

Arriving on September 8 via Warner Music Nashville, The Devil I Know will feature 11 tracks, including the previously released tunes “Light On In The Kitchen,” “Learned To Lie,” “The Devil I Know,” and the newly released, “Made For This.”

“When it was time to put together The Devil I Know, my band and I did what we always do: got together in the purple building in East Nashville, played through a bunch of songs and discussed where we wanted it to go,” explained McBryde. “We decided to take all the things that people tend to give us a hard time for and turn it up.”

She continued, “‘Y’all are too country.’ We leaned into that – more country it is. ‘Y’all are awfully rock leaning for a country artist.’ Is that so? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet. ‘Last thing y’all need is another tender, finger pickin’ song.’ Oh? Tender makes you uneasy, cowboy? I hear you. Let’s see how much more tender we can be. We listened to all those opinions and said, ‘I hear you. I understand what you’re saying.’ But sadly, there’s no room on the record for your opinion. We’ll do what we want.”
