Brandon Davis has “no words” after receiving an unexpected gift from country music superstar Tim McGraw.
Last week, Davis took to social media to reveal that his music equipment had been stolen while he was on the road playing shows. After hearing all about the unfortunate incident, the “Humble & Kind” singer showed his generous and caring spirit by surprising Davis with a brand-new Gibson guitar.
Brandon Davis Was In Shock And Left Speechless By Tim McGraw Generosity
A clip shared on TikTok, and recorded by Davis’ wife Destiny, shows the moment he receives the guitar — and not just any guitar, a Gibson SJ – one that is almost identical to the one that was stolen.
“Hey, baby, so you had something come in the mail. Your friends, Tim McGraw and Gibson and Down Home, they sent you a guitar to replace the one that you had taken from you,” Destiny says in the background of the video as Davis notices a box with the words Gibson spread across the front, and covers up his mouth in disbelief.
“You are kidding me!” Davis responds before opening the guitar case to look over the instrument.
The father of four, who appears in the clip with one of his sons, then breaks out the guitar to play a little bit of McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying” to show his gratitude for the elaborate gift.
“There are no words,” Davis says after playing a snippet of the song. “I can’t thank you, guys, enough. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is an amazing blessing.”
All Of Davis’ Touring Gear Was Stolen In Texas
Davis’s trailer, which housed all his touring gear, was raided on Sunday (April 16) after his show in Arlington, Texas. At the time of the incident, Davis and his camp were at a hotel. Before heading to their next tour stop in Houston, they noticed someone had emptied out the trailer.
“When we headed out to the bus the next morning, my wife was the first to see the trailer door open,” Davis tells Music Mayhem. “When I walked back to the trailer, I immediately knew everything was gone. It was such a defeated feeling, and you just think ‘Who would do this?’ You feel so violated, and the kids, of course, wanted to know what happened. It wasn’t just my gear, either. My band had all their gear in there as well.”
After realizing his trailer had been raided, Davis took to Instagram to inform his followers to keep an eye out for any gear, including “guitars, drums, merch, amps, and any musical equipment at pawn shops and online.”
“Our trailer was raided, and all our equipment was stolen last night outside the hotel after the show,” Davis captioned the video post on Instagram. “We’re all safe, and that’s all that matters, but it’s hard explaining something like this to your kids at 8:00 am.”
Brandon Davis Filed A Police Report For The Stolen Gear
“It’s gut-wrenching because some of that stuff can never be replaced. It holds memories and sentimental value,” Davis recalled of the incident. “We filed a police report and have the community keeping an eye out for the gear, but we haven’t recovered anything and probably won’t ever recover it. Thankfully, my wife had touring insurance set up, and we’re hoping it will cover most of what was stolen, but it’s a process.”
He continued, “I urge every musician to get touring insurance. Take photos of all your gear, and put an AirTag or something in your gear if you can. You never think this will happen until it does. At the end of that day, we’re just thankful we’re all safe. I can get new gear, but I can’t replace my family or band members, and I’m grateful we were safe in the hotel.”
On the bright side, Davis was still able to perform his show at The Woodlands in Houston, which had extra equipment for his band to use.
“I still got to end that very same night doing what I love, surrounded by the most supportive crowd I’ve ever seen. This is country music. Thank you, @carsonclaymusic, for letting me borrow your guitar! #texas #stolenequipment #Godisgood,” Davis wrote on TikTok, alongside a clip from the performance.
Tim McGraw Saved The Day
And, of course, Davis continued his run of shows thanks to McGraw’s generosity.
Opening up even more about his reaction to the gift – well wishes and prayers – he received from McGraw, Down Home, and Gibson, Davis says, “I honestly was just shocked and so very grateful. The fact that Tim McGraw, Down Home, and Gibson banded together to rush me a guitar so I’d have one before my show on Saturday is just mind-blowing.”
“I’m still just in shock, I think. But having that guitar up on stage with me at my show Saturday felt just like having the one that was stolen from me up there again. I can’t get back the memories the old one held, but I’m already making some new ones on the new Gibson,” he added. “… It was a very welcomed surprise after the crazy week we’d been through.”
Brandon Davis Toured With Tim McGraw In 2022
McGraw isn’t only a friend to Davis. He is also his former tour boss. In fact, Davis toured alongside McGraw in 2022. Looking back at the run, Davis says the former tour mates and the rest of the crew still try to stay in connection with one another.
“We’ve tried to keep in touch with everyone from the tour. When you spend so much time together touring, those people become like your family, and it’s always a little weird to go from seeing each other every day to just now and then,” Davis shares. “There are members of the sound crew and security that our kids still ask to go see everybody on tour quickly becomes family.”
Additionally, Brandon Davis currently has a handful of shows in the books beginning in June. On Friday (April 28), he will release his EP, Jesus and Jesse James.
Davis recently revealed that the new EP will include some of his most honest and raw material.
“This entire EP is filled with a stripped-back country sound that brings back memories of the kind of country I grew up listening to,” Davis told American Songwriter of the upcoming project. “The main theme behind this EP is just the storytelling it holds and how unique each song is. I wanted to make sure there’s something for everybody no matter what phase of life they’re in. The songs take you on a personal journey that hopefully makes you feel like it was written just for you.”
Jesus and Jesse James is due out on April 28. Pre-save or preorder the forthcoming EP by clicking HERE.
