Post Malone has made no secret of the fact that he loves country music, most recently teaming with Morgan Wallen and HARDY to perform two Joe Diffie songs at the CMA Awards last month. Malone first made waves for his country sensibilities in 2021 when he performed a Brad Paisley cover during a charity special, and he and Paisley have since become friends — and might even be collaborating together.

Paisley appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, where Fallon showed Paisley a photo he had recently shared on Instagram of himself and Malone in a recording studio in Nashville. “Is there a possibility that Post Malone could be on the new album?” he asked.

“We’ll see,” Paisley replied, joking, “as you can tell, I had no say in that photo.”

After Fallon joked that Paisley is “along for the ride,” Paisley agreed, “along for the ride is how it is with him. We’ll see what happens.”

The two also laughed about Malone’s schedule. “I worked with him a couple nights, to tell you how he rolls, and you know,” Paisley told Fallon. “You’ve done this, too.”

“I did it once,” Fallon said. “I can’t do it twice.”

Teases Country Collaboration With Post Malone

He then went on to tease a potential collaboration with Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Post. “I’m hoping whatever we do in the future, we have to have some set rules,” Paisley responded. “I was there all night one night, and the other night, I went home a little earlier. He calls me at 11 a.m. and says, ‘Hey, if you can fix that one guitar part in the studio today, I’m going to bed.’ And it was 11 a.m. That’s a bedtime for him. You can’t roll with him.”

After Fallon called Malone an “interesting” and “lovable” guy, Paisley agreed. “I love him,” he said. “He’s the greatest guy, and he loves country music, and we’ll see if we do something.”

Judging by the fact that Paisley has already laid down a guitar part in the recording studio with Malone, it seems like a collaboration is pretty likely.

Post Malone Confirms Country Album Is On The Way

Malone confirmed that he is working on a country album during a recent Twitch livestream on his channel. “Country record is coming,” he revealed. “I keep singing a song that we made while I was in Nashville, and it’s so f—ing sick, but it’s not out.” He added, “We made such sick music down in Nashville… It was so much, so much fun.”

In April, Malone will perform a set of country covers at Stagecoach festival in California.

Brad Paisley Previously Praised Post Malone’s Cover Of His Song

Malone and Paisley’s friendship blossomed in 2021 when Malone performed covers of Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song)” and Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have the Crown” in 2021 during the fundraising event We’re Texas. Paisley posted the cover on social media and wrote, “Always humbling when another artist does your song better than you. @postmalone, well done.”

After a clip went viral online the next year, Paisley commented, “This is better than me.” Malone responded, “Brad, there’s no shot, man. I love you so f–––’ much man, thank you for the love, dude. I owe you a beer, man. Text me, I’ll see you soon.”

Malone first floated the idea of a country album while speaking to Howard Stern in June 2022. “To be honest, there’s nothing stopping me from taking a camera or setting up in my studio in Utah and just recording a country album [to put] on YouTube,” he said. “I’m allowed to do that. I’m a human being.”
