The remainder of the Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival has been canceled due to severe weather and flooding, according to a statement issued by festival organizers.
Bonnaroo Organizers Issue Statement After Abrupt Cancellation Of Festival
On Friday evening (June 13), Bonnaroo organizers shared an urgent announcement via social media and the festival’s official website, outlining the cancellation and next steps. This comes after the festival was evacuated and placed on a several hour weather delay due to extreme weather conditions with “multiple storm cells” near The Farm.
“Today, the National Weather service provided us with an updated forecast with significant and steady precipitation that will produce deteriorating camping and egress conditions in the coming days. We are beyond gutted, but we must make the safest decision and cancel the remainder of Bonnaroo,” the statement began. “We are going to make things right with you, and you will find refund information at the end of this message, but let’s start with the next steps.”
The festival organizers then requested that all festival goers in the flooded areas as well as those with accessibility needs to exit the farm and all camping sites where Bonnaroo takes in Manchester, Tennessee, as soon as possible.
“The number one thing we need from the Bonnaroo community is patience. Some of your fellow campers’ sites are in rough shape. The rain has settled in areas and made certain parts of Outeroo difficult to manage. We’d like to prioritize getting those folks as well as those with accessibility needs off The Farm as soon as possible this evening.”
Bonnaroo organizers also asked that anyone with an RV or pre-pitched accommodations stay put and leave in the morning to allow those in ravaged areas to get out safely.
“To do this, we ask that if your campsite is in good shape or if you’re in an RV or pre-pitched accommodation, please consider spending the night with us, and we’ll start working to get you out of here safely tomorrow. We will continue to operate as usual in Outeroo including food vendors and all health and safety infrastructure,” the statement continued.
Bonnaroo Shares Apology For Having To Suddenly Cancel The Event
The event organizers also issued an apology for the sudden cancellation, emphasizing that the decision was made with safety as the top priority.
“We have put our hearts and souls into making this weekend the most special one of the year, and cannot express how crushed we are to have to make this decision. Thank you in advance for your patience, your positivity and your unfailing Bonnaroovian spirit.”
Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival was scheduled to take place from Thursday, June 12, through Sunday, June 15. While Thursday’s events went on as planned without any weather issues, the remainder of the festival was ultimately canceled due to severe weather and flooding. This year’s lineup included performances from Luke Combs, Olivia Rodrigo, Tyler, The Creator, Avril Lavigne, Justice, Nelly, Hozier, Vampire Weekend, Queens of the Stone Age, GloRilla, Dom Dolla, Glass Animals, Insane Clown Posse, Megadeth, Arcade Fire Presents “Santa Pirata,” JPEGMAFIA, and a special sunrise set from Gorgon City.
