Luke Combs joined forces with Miranda Lambert to perform their “Outrunnin’ Your Memory” during his historic headlining Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival set on Thursday evening (June 12) in Manchester, Tennessee.

In the midst of his two-hour headlining performance, the country superstar surprised the capacity crowd when he welcomed Lambert to the stage to perform their fan-favorite collaboration.

“Once my career had gotten going, you get to meet all these people who you look up to and admire. People whose music has shaped you. I got a call one day from one of my favorite artists who I love so much, and we wrote a song together. I’d like to welcome to the stage Miss Miranda Lambert!” Combs told the crowd, who welcomed her with a thunderous applause.

Lambert, wearing a T-shirt featuring lyrics from Combs’ song “Lovin’ On You,” paired with a denim skirt and cowboy hat, was all smiles as she stepped on stage to perform the track. Co-written by Combs, Lambert, and Dan Isbell, the song appears on Combs’ album, Growin’ Up, which features songs such as “The Kind Of Love We Make,” “Going, Going, Gone” and more.

Combs, who wore his signature Columbia PFG, jeans and a blue Grand Ole Opry ball cap, and Lambert traded verses before flawlessly harmonizing on the track’s chorus. “Outrunnin’ your memory is like outrunnin’ the wind/ I can’t get where I’m going if I can’t leave where you’ve been/ I see you in every sunset, every star in the sky/ I hear you callin’ my name in the middle of the night/ The longer gone I get on down the road/ Reminds me baby, that there just ain’t no/ Outrunnin’ your memory,” Combs and Lambert sang in sync on the chorus.

“My buddy Luke Combs y’all,” Lambert shouted, as Combs yelled “damn!” in a state of shock.

Following their performance of “Outrunnin’ Your Memory,” Combs gave his spotlight to Lambert to perform her massive hit, “Kerosene.” Combs then rejoined the stage and the pair of superstars shared a hug before Lambert exited stage left.

Luke Combs also performed “Fast Car,” “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma,” “1, 2 Many,” “Cold As You,” “Beautiful Crazy,” “Better Together,” “Forever After All,” “Houston, We Got A Problem,” “Hurricane,” “Beer Never Broke My Heart” and more during his Bonnaroo set. He also shocked fans with special guest Jon Bellion to perform two songs, “WHY” and “Good Things Fall Apart,” as well as Marcus King for “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma.”

“ I never would imagined all those years that I would end up doing what I’m doing now, not because I didn’t believe in myself, just because I thought, what are the odds?” Combs told the crowd as he was overcome with emotions.

Combs also became the first-ever country artist to headline Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festivals, which takes place over the course of three days and features Combs (Thursday), Tyler, The Creator (Friday), Olivia Rodrigo (Saturday) and Hozier (Sunday) as headliners.

When it was announced that Combs would be headlining Bonnaroo, he took to social media to share his excitement. “What is life, y’all? Man, one day you pick up a guitar, and you’re trying to learn how to play. A few years later, you’re playing your own shows. A few years later you moved to Nashville and so on and so forth, and here we are, man. Headlining freaking Bonnaroo this coming year,” Combs wrote. ” Oh my gosh, man, I’m so excited.”

He continued, “It’s gonna be so much fun. I hope y’all will give us a chance out there, I hope y’all come see the show, I promise we got a lot of special stuff for y’all out there. Look forward to seeing you at The Roo this year.”

Bonnaroo is one of the limited shows Luke Combs is playing this year, as he’s stepping back from a full touring schedule to focus on family and fatherhood. He’s also set to appear at Newport Folk Festival, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits Music Festival, and Country Calling, before closing out the year with two nights at his annual Luke Combs’ Bootleggers Bonfire event in Florida. The 2025 Bootleggers Bonfire is set to take place October 23-25 at the stunning Seascape Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida, just miles away from Destin.
