Blake Shelton revealed his Christmas cooking tradition with wife, No Doubt singer, Gwen Stefani.

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Shelton shared that he and Stefani enjoy “challenging [themselves]” by cooking a different dish each year.

“Gwen and I, our tradition has become, um, cooking during Christmas and not just like your normal typical [food] because we do a lot of typical things but we always challenge ourselves and try to come up with a different, weird, complicated, difficult thing to cook every year,” the “No Body” singer explained.

“It started one year [when] we, um…she wanted to do a, uh, Beef Wellington, which is not easy by the way. We still try something weird and new every year. You know Gwen’s family is…there’s a lot of Italian blood in her family and so there’s tons of pastas and there’s a reason that, you know, I have a chin like a stork the last five years. It’s because I’m hanging out with the Stefani’s now,” he joked.

Shelton also said that singing with wife, Stefani is harder than cooking with her.

“Singing with Gwen is way harder than cooking with her,” he added. “Cooking is easy for us because neither one of us really know what we’re doing and all we do is laugh the whole time. Music we actually take serious.”

And while Shelton and Stefani may enjoy cooking with each other, they also enjoy singing together.

The couple recently appeared at the Christmas in Rockefeller Center tree lighting special, which aired on NBC on Nov. 30. They sang their holiday duet, “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” from Stefani’s 2017 album of the same name. The country singer sported a red plaid shirt and blue jeans for the performance while the pop singer opted for a green sparkly dress.

When Stefani asked her husband what Christmas means to him backstage at the event, he had a very sweet answer. “You,” Shelton said.

“You make it feel like Christmas too, Blake Shelton,” Stefani responded.

“It’s not even Christmas tonight, but you make it feel like it is. How cheesy is this bit?,” the country singer asked, which prompted his wife to laugh.

In addition, Stefani revealed that the couple, who met on the set of The Voice, bonded over Christmas music.

Both of them were going through divorces at the time–Shelton was previously married to fellow country singer Miranda Lambert and Stefani was married to Bush guitarist Gavin Rossdale–which helped them to bond. Shelton even admitted in a 2016 interview with Billboard that the “Hollaback Girl” singer saved his life.

“Gwen saved my life. Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can’t even imagine the similarities in our divorces,” he told the outlet at the time.

Stefani expressed a similar sentiment during a conversation with Shape Magazine in 2019.

“I feel as if I spent the last four years healing — you know, trying to build my life again,” Stefani said. “Having a best friend like Blake to help me do that has been one of the greatest gifts.”

Shelton and Stefani are both serving as judges on the current season of NBC’s The Voice. Shelton recently announced he’d be leaving the successful singing competition after next season in order to spend more time with his three step-sons.
