Billy Ray Cyrus and FIREROSE attended the ACM Honors together in Nashville last month, and the evening marked the engaged couple’s first red carpet appearance.

Cyrus kept his look casual with a black button down over a black t-shirt and black jeans, topping things off with a straw cowboy hat.

FIREROSE also wore a black top and jeans but brought some sparkle to the carpet with a colorful sequin bomber jacket, rhinestone belt and shimmering fringe boots. She topped her look off with a black cowboy hat.

The Couple Honored The Late Charlie Daniels Alongside Travis Denning

The pair was on hand at the ceremony to perform with Travis Denning, delivering a rendition of Charlie Daniels Band’s “Long Haired Country Boy” to honor the late Charlie Daniels, who posthumously received the ACM Spirit Award.

The ACM Spirit Award is inspired by Merle Haggard and is presented to a singer-songwriter who is continuing the legacy of Haggard by following their own path, crafting great songs and epitomizing Merle’s spirit through genuine performances and great storytelling.

Began Dating In 2022

Cyrus and FIREROSE began dating in 2022 following Cyrus’ split from ex-wife Tish Cyrus and became engaged later that year after FIREROSE moved in to Cyrus’ Franklin, Tennessee farm.

“Billy looked at me and said, ‘Do you, do you wanna marry me?’ And I was just like, ‘Of course I do. I love you,’” FIREROSE recalled of the proposal to PEOPLE. “He said, ‘I love you. I wanna make this official. I wanna be with you forever.’”

Met 12 Years Ago On Set Of Hannah Montana

Cyrus and FIREROSE had initially met 12 years ago on the set of Hannah Montana, when FIREROSE was 22. Cyrus shared that he was walking his dog, Tex, on the show’s lot when he saw FIREROSE exit a building.

“There was almost a moment of, I don’t know, recognition,” he recalled. “I was like, ‘This girl’s a star.’” FIREROSE went to say hi to Tex and she and Cyrus got to talking.

“I just thought, well, the casting agents, the producers, the writers, they’re all on the floor of where we do Hannah Montana. And I actually said to her, ‘Don’t ever take a strange man up on this offer, but, in this case, Tex will testify that you will be totally safe. I’m going to introduce you to a producer and you can kind of make yourself at home and watch us rehearse and you know, maybe it might lead to a role or just another contact at Disney,’” Cyrus said. “And so, off me and her and Tex went back to the studio and I think she met a lot of the cast and met the producers, writers. And, in some ways, well, in a lot of ways, we became friends.”

Became Songwriting Partners In 2020

The two stayed in touch throughout the years and became songwriting partners in 2020.

“There was sickness and death, and hard times,” Cyrus reflected. “All of the sudden, the life that I’ve always known as a touring artist didn’t exist anymore. A moment of so much change. And at the same time, Firerose, who had been such a light of positivity, such a best friend. And then when we began sharing the music, it just evolved more into, as musical soulmates, to soulmates, happy, pure love that to me, I didn’t know could exist. Again, we’re musicians, first and foremost, both of us. And we found this harmony, and this rhythm, this melody to life.”
