Morgan Wallen’s One Night At A Time World Tour features some of his best buds, including HARDY and ERNEST. Bailey Zimmerman is also on that trek and shares that he’s grateful to be in the same circle as some of the top songwriters in town.
While chatting with US 99’s Scotty Kay, Zimmerman, 23, talked about spending time on the road with the three artists. And while it may come as a surprise to some folks, he confirmed that the group refrains from indulging in the drugs and alcohol atmosphere often associated with the touring and musician lifestyle.
“We Don’t Really Party”
“This is complete honesty. I don’t — we don’t really party,” Zimmerman said before sharing some of the other activities that the musicians do get in on. “I feel like we’re just on a really good trajectory of being healthy. We work out all the time. We’re eating healthy. We’ll have a couple tequilas, but you won’t catch us at the bar anymore.”
Consequently, Zimmerman admits that it took a few wild party nights to get into the current headspace that he and the rest of the group are in.
“I think we’ve all learned a really good lesson on partying and how it can affect tours and how it can affect fans and just your family, friends, whatever,” he said.
Along with that, Zimmerman credits his mother for steering him in the right direction as he continues to watch his star rise.
“My mom has worked her a— off to get me here, and I’m not about to throw it away because I want to drink beers at the bar and try to get girls. I’m not about that — I love my family too much,” he said.
Zimmerman’s Mom Pushes Him To Spend His Money Wisely
Taking his career seriously isn’t the only way Zimmerman was raised. He also notes that his mother has pushed him to stay conscious with how he spends and uses his money.
The Illinois native started receiving gifts from people after he scored his first No. 1 with “Fall In Love.” A diamond bracelet, a “BZ” necklace and a Nixon watch from Happy Jewelers in Orange County, Calif., are among some of the presents he has received.
“My mom chewed my a—, dude,” he said regarding a time when his mother noticed he was donning expensive jewelry, “I just showed up with all this jewelry on and stuff, and she was like, ‘You don’t need to be spending your money,’ and I was like, ‘Joke’s on you — they were all gifts.’”
Really Wants To Purchase A G-Wagon
While Zimmerman keeps an eye on his spending habits, he is thankful for those who have shown their support by showering him with generous gifts, and jokes, “I’ve been really wanting a G-Wagon. If anybody can get me a G-Wagon, that’d be great.”
At this point, Zimmerman isn’t riding around in a luxury SUV as he’s still on tour with Wallen. He shares that even though the guys have time together between tour stops, they haven’t had any moments to sit down and write songs as a team. However, he does welcome the idea of collaborating with Wallen, ERNEST and HARDY if the opportunity arose.
“I’m just honestly so grateful to be friends with them, so I don’t push that. If they want to write a song — I’d love to — but if not, it’s also cool because I’m very grateful to get to call them friends,” he said. “It’s just so hectic all the time that trying to write a song is like the last thing we’re thinking about.”
“I believe in God, and I believe he knows when things are supposed to happen,” Zimmerman continued. “So it’s just like, it’ll happen when it needs to happen. When that song needs to be written, I will end up in a room with whoever I need to write with to make that song what it needs to be.”
Wallen’s One Night At A Time World Tour, which marks his first stadium-headlining run and one of the largest tours of 2023, began its U.S. leg on April 14 with back-to-back shows in Milwaukee, WI. The 63-show trek, which features ERNEST and Zimmerman on all dates and HARDY and McCollum on select dates, runs through 2024.
