Donning a flannel shirt over an all white ensemble, Zimmerman and his band performed “Holding On” in a dimly lit, somber stage setting. His performance really highlighted the emotion behind the track’s powerful lyrics and allowed the singer/songwriter to showcase his signature raspy vocals.

“Will you be strong and keep holding on?/ If this was your last breath, would you waste it on me?/ Stick around when I’m in the dark/ Be the angel that comes down and picks up my heart/ When it’s all wrong, can we be strong?/ And keep holding on/ And keep holding on,” Zimmerman sings on the chorus. Zimmerman’s performance concluded with a roaring applause from the studio crowd.

“Thank y’all so much!” Zimmerman said before Fallon joined him on stage to close out his performance segment.
