Jessie Murph has officially released her highly anticipated debut album, That Ain’t No Man That’s The Devil, and one of the standout cuts on the 12-track project is her grief-heavy collaboration with country/rock hitmaker Bailey Zimmerman.

Jessie Murph, Bailey Zimmerman New Duet, “Someone In This Room”

Titled “Someone In This Room,” the collaborative effort paints the portrait of a toxic romance, where a pattern of pain, suffering, and heartbreak seems never-ending. In some cases, two people bring out the best in one another, but in this scenario, the significant others feed off of each other’s anger and only add fuel to the fire, tearing down the relationship they once had. Their addiction to arguing makes both parties equally to blame, as they’ve both become blind enough to not realize who’s at fault in the end.

“Someone in this room / Is someone’s bad decision / And someone’s too fuc—ed up to leave the kitchen / Someone is the martyr to someone’s bad religion / And someone’s dragging someone right down with ’em,” the two superstars sing with raw emotion, joining their vocals into a goosebumps-inducing, harmonious blend that’s bound to earn them plenty of praise. “I used to know who was who / Now I’m just someone in this room.”

Murph and Zimmerman’s vocals are the focal point for this track, as they dominate on their solo parts over a subtle arrangement of ringing acoustic guitars and delicate background synths. Murph leads the narrative, introducing the story of two partners bringing each other to a breaking point. Then, Bailey Zimmerman continues to tell the story in the second verse, showing off his universal angsty vocals that make him a perfect fit for the accompanying role.

With both Murph and Zimmerman’s earnest vocal and powerful delivery, “Someone In This Room” makes them a seamless pairing worthy of earning award nominations and wins.
