Backstreet Boys are recording a Christmas album!

Earlier this year, in an episode of the Apple Music radio show dubbed All I Have To Give RadioBrian Littrell shared “We’re about to go in the studio and make our Christmas album.” The singer then second guessed himself on if he was allowed to reveal the news or not, saying, “Oh, my God, did I just let that out?”

Following Littrell’s comment, Kevin Richardson revealed a few additional details of the project.

“We are going to be in the studio recording our first Christmas album ever,” Richardson added. “We’re all excited; we’ve been compiling our favorite songs and having Zoom meetings. And so we’re excited to get back in the studio for that. That will be out later this year.”

The group continue to tease the upcoming Christmas album throughout some of the members social media including Aj McLean and Nick Carter.

On May 4, Carter shared a photo to Instagram with the caption, “activate boy band mode. On my way to LA to begin recording this Christmas record with the boys.”

“Christmas album is coming along unbelievable. Oh my god, Oh my god, You guys are not ready ,” McLean told fans in a recent TikTok video before admitting that it only took the group “28 years” to create a Christmas record but he also said it’s “better late than never.”

According to the several posts made by members of the boy band, they are currently in California recording their first-ever holiday album. The group is working with producer Tommy Brown (Ariana Grande) to record the album.

“We want to make a timeless album that will live on like Mariah Carey’s song and we’ve talked about working on new music beyond that,” McLean told Variety. “Tommy’s a freakin’ genius, so hopefully we’ll develop a great relationship and do more music with him.”

The boy band previously released a standalone holiday single entitled “Christmas Time” in 1996, which was also featured on Platinum Christmas, which is a holiday compilation cd featuring several other artists.

Additionally, the popular boy band recently announced that their DNA World Tour was rescheduled to Summer 2022.
