Ashley Monroe shared an update on her incurable blood cancer diagnosis, revealing that her lab tests have come back all clear, meaning the cancer has gone away.

The singer/songwriter and member of The Pistol Annies took to social media on Thursday, March 3, to give fans an update on her cancer diagnosis, which she called a “good news alert.”

“I had my PET scans and labs on February 24. My 6th chemo sessions were December 14 and 15, so these tests were the ‘let’s see if that work’ kind,” Monroe wrote in an Instagram caption. “Well IT DID! My blood work looked amazing and normal and so did my scans! They say this kind is incurable, but I’m just gonna believe it IS curable, and it’s gone forever. That was truly one of the most difficult sessions of my life. I didn’t know it was possible to feel so sick and defeated. BUT, I believe it was meant to be and I know it has made me a better person. Thank you for your prayers, I truly felt them. I love you all. Ready to make and share more music! To say I have a lot to say, is an understatement.”

Upon revealing the positive news that her blood work was clear, the country music community showcased their support for the singer.

Maren Morris, Brittney Spencer, Miranda Lambert, Tenille Townes, Tigirlily, Michelle Branch, Caylee Hammack as well as members of Little Big Town commented on her post praising her strength and sharing how happy they are that she is cancer free.

“Praise the Lord!!!” Hammack wrote, while Lambert commented, “Love you so much” alongside a bunch of heart emojis.

“Hallelujah! 🙌🏼” Morris shared, and Spencer added, “yes yes yes 🙌🏾🙌🏾 celebrating right along with you 💛💛”

In late December 2021, the 35-year-old Tennessee native shared that she completed her final round of chemotherapy. She also thanked fans for the gracious support and prayers.

“Ring a ling a ling a ding dong ding… My last chemo is done! Merry Christmas everyone,” Monroe shared alongside a video ringing the hospital bell which signifies the completion of chemotherapy. “Thank you for praying for me. I felt them more than you know. I’ve never been more thankful. Ready to Come back like never before in 2022!”

In July of 2021, Monroe shocked fans when she revealed the news that she had been diagnosed with cancer, and that she was preparing to undergo her first round of extensive chemotherapy.

“A few months ago my Dr. was doing some routine lab work and found that I was anemic. I was like, FINE, I’ll just double up on cheeseburger patties, take some extra vitamins and call it a day,” Monroe shared at the time. “Well my red blood count just kept falling, and they found out my iron /b12/ folic acid numbers were actually fine. Short story long, they did a bone marrow biopsy, (ouch), and VOILA… a rare kind of blood c word called ‘waldenstrom macroglobulinemia.’”

Monroe continued, “It’s causing my body to be pretty severely anemic, and I feel it. So, I start chemo tomorrow. Seems like such a negative thing to say. Until I flip that doom feeling on its head and think, wow, I’m thankful I have an illness that is VERY live with-able. I’m thankful there IS a treatment that actually works to fight what is causing harm to my body. THANKFUL for friends and family who have gathered around me praying and sending flowers and letting me lean on them during this super weird chapter of my life.”

“Thankful for my angel son. Who I am fighting for the most,” Monroe added at the time. “I would greatly appreciate if no one gave me any unsolicited advice or medical opinions. I’ve done my research and have amazing Vanderbilt Dr’s I’ve weighed every option with. That’s why I was hesitant to post about it, but I could use the prayers… And I DO believe in the power of prayer guys. I also believe in the power of love healing us all on an even deeper level. I love you all big. Here I go. 💪🏼🙏❤️”

Throughout the process of her battle with blood cancer and chemotherapy, Monroe still managed to release an EP, Covers, as well as a Christmas project, called Hell Of A Holiday, with her all-girl group, Pistol Annies.
