Alexandra Kay checked off a significant milestone from her bucket list as she experienced the thrill of hearing her song, “Everleave,” played on the radio for the very first time. The 2024 Music Mayhem Artist to Watch documented the exciting moment, which took place as she sat in the driver’s seat of her car in a parking lot.

Kay’s Song “Everleave” Spins On The Radio For The First Time Ever

In a heartfelt post, shared by Kay on social media, the fast-rising country star expressed her gratitude to SiriusXM’s The Highway for spinning her song. “Thank you, @highwaysiriusxm, for spinning my song ‘Everleave’ today,” she captioned a clip of the unforgettable moment. She then went on to thank fans for helping her kick off the year by achieving a massive career milestone.

“Who would have thought my first song on the air would be a sad ballad by an independent artist… something everyone said would never happen! Thank [you] for helping us kick off the year checking a big one off the bucket list! Y’all make sure to tag me when you hear it!”

Despite initial doubts of an independent artist like herself landing a spot on radio airwaves, she found herself overwhelmed with joy upon the song’s introduction. Sitting in her car, she couldn’t contain her excitement as the opening notes of “Everleave” echoed through the speakers, exclaiming, “Wait, this is my song! Oh my God! This is my first time ever having a song on The Highway.”

Shocked And Overjoyed To Hear Her Song Played On Radio

In a state of disbelief and glowing in happiness, Alexandra Kay graciously thanked her loyal fans for their endless support, as well as showcased her appreciation for SiriusXM for taking a shot on her music. As the clip continued, Kay recognized that this impressive achievement was due to her fans’ dedication and belief in her music, making her dreams possible.

“The only reason why this stuff happens is because you guys listen to my music, because you have streamed this song 5 million times in a month and a half, because you guys call your radio stations, because you make it happen for me,” she began. “I’m completely independent, I don’t get any of this without you. So thank you from the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in me, thank you, SiriusXM, for giving me a shot. I love you guys, and I’m in shock.”

She concluded the video by reflecting on the speed at which her dreams are turning into reality, noting that within just two days into the new year, she has already accomplished a significant goal on her bucket list.

“It’s day 2 of the year and I just already checked something off my dream board,” Kay said with a big smile.

The Song Appears On Alexandra Kay’s Debut Album, All I’ve Ever Known

“Everleave” is a poignant ballad that appears on Alexandra Kay’s debut album, All I’ve Ever Known, which arrived on October 26, 2023. The 11-track project, which boasts of fan-favorite tracks such as “I Hate Airplanes,” “Easy,” “She Stayed” and more, finds the Waterloo, IL native detailing the “entire story” of her divorce from start to finish through the lyrics.

“Everything that I say in this music is truth,” Kay previously told Music Mayhem. “The process of actually writing the music and opening up was the easiest part of it all, because I just told my story.”

She previously dubbed “Everleave” one of the most meaningful tunes on the entire project, in addition to the album’s title track. “I would say the most meaningful song to me, it goes back and forth between ‘Everleave’ and ‘All I’ve Ever Known,’ but probably ‘Everleave,’ because ‘Everleave’ kind of goes back into the past instead of living in the future, where ‘All I’ve Ever Known’ is where I am now,” she explained.

The soon-to-be superstar hopes that the album will help those struggling with similar situations. In fact, Kay revealed that the entirety of All I’ve Ever Known is meant to help individuals with “whatever they need,” regardless of what they are going through. “I kind of put my music out there as therapy for myself and as a coping mechanism for myself and to help and heal myself, but I want people to pick it apart,” she dished. “I want them to take whatever they need [and] I want it to just be a toolbox, and you just take whatever you need in order to fix yourself, and you can deconstruct my songs, and you can make them mean something that they don’t actually mean because it relates to you.”

Reflects On Whirlwind Year And New Heights Of Success She Achieved

2023 was a whirlwind for Alexandra Kay, who achieved new heights of success over the course of the year, that she dubbed “the best and most challenging year of my life”

On Tuesday (Jan. 2), the singer/songwriter and former Netflix actress shared a lengthy message on social media, reflecting on the past year that began with the feelings of being “shattered, lost, confused and lonely” and ended with newfound fame.

“I was living alone for the first time in my entire life as a 31-year-old woman in the middle of divorce trying desperately to figure out who I am and what went wrong [and] I dove head first in to my work and stayed as busy as possible. [I] smiled ear to ear on some of the biggest red carpets with the shiniest of stars and I traveled the world and sang lyrics at the top of my lungs that told the story that I was not only okay… but that I was happy, but I was anything but happy,” she wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Come March I started writing through my pain like I’ve done since I was 12 years old. I let my pen and paper be my therapist, and for the first time in a long time I let myself break.”

Kay’s Debut Album Topped The Charts, Sold Out Headlining Tour

She continued, “6 months later I had, with many other incredible writers, producers and musicians… created my debut album, All I’ve Ever Known. I had not the slightest idea the effect this album would have on my heart and on my life. I’m not only talking about reaching the top of the iTunes and multiple billboard charts and a nearly sold out tour, BUT this record put my heart back together again.””

Kay then reminisced on hearing fans sing every lyric back to her during each night of her sold-out Backroad Therapy Tour. “Every night I listened to you all scream these words so loud I couldn’t hear myself, I cried on stage, and you cried in my arms at the meet and greets and we, together, became stronger every single night. I have come to the realization that I don’t regret anything that has happened in my life. If every time I stumbled, if every time my heart broke it meant I was on the path to right NOW, I would do it all over again… if it meant I would create this album and help myself and so many others find peace and understanding.”

She concluded the long message of reflection by thanking her fans for sticking by her and sharing that 2024 “will be a year of happiness, music, love, Jesus, family and gratitude. And I will ALWAYS remember the love you showed me when I found it hard to even love myself. Happy New Year to you.”

2024 is destined to be a career-defining year for Kay, so make sure you are following her on social media to stay up-to-date with everything she has going on.
