Alexandra Kay has dropped her brand new infectious single, “Easy.” The country singer/songwriter is also doubling up on releases, bringing the track to life with an accompanying video.

“Easy” puts the nostalgia front and center as Kay sings about being 21 and falling for someone despite not getting a clear picture of whom that person is right away. Her infatuation with her significant other leaves her jumping into a romance that isn’t necessarily good for her as she finds herself experiencing highs and lows with the guy she’s with.

By the chorus, Kay has departed from her toxic relationship but admits she has plenty of heartbreak to deal with in its aftermath, which is bound to take some time to process.

It ain’t easy / Waking up at night / Reaching to your side and it’s empty / It ain’t easy / Looking people in the eye / Swearing I’m alright when I’m falling to pieces,” Kay sings over an energetic and uptempo beat that gives listeners a good dose of country and ‘80s rock. “Easy letting go when I’ve nevеr been alone / And I don’t know who I am without you / Now I’m crying on the bathroom floor / And we ain’t got it еasy anymore.

The music video, directed by Jordan Phoenix, meanwhile, paints a picture of what a relationship looked like prior to the split. Kay throws it back, wearing various ‘80s vintage looks from high-waisted paper bag jeans and a letterman jacket to big hair, a mini skirt, and mesh gloves. She is seen having the time of her life with her fictional boyfriend, waving around sparklers outside, picking albums in a record store, and spending time together before the cinematic clip transitions into her crying on the bathroom floor.

Also scattered throughout the clip is footage of Kay and her real-life band performing the song in a retro bowling alley. Kay looks every bit glam as she grips the microphone and delivers the lyrics of the tune while dressed in a leopard print dress and knee-high boots that are giving real Shania Twain vibes.

Song To Appear On Debut Album, All I’ve Ever Known

“Easy” follows the release of Kay’s emotional track, “I Hate Airplane’s,” both of which will be included on the talented artist’s upcoming album, All I’ve Ever Known, which is expected to arrive on October 26. Produced by Andrew Capra, Andrew Baylis and Jason Massey, the project features 11 deeply personal tracks, all of which were co-written by Kay, and will be released independently.

“All I’ve Ever Known is honesty. It’s a peek behind the curtain to an old kitchen window in a town of 4,000 people where I lived the past 10 years of my life. It is who I was, who I’ve become and everything in between,” Alexandra Kay shared. “This album is the most raw, vulnerable, and wide open I have ever been when creating music, which can be terrifying and healing at the same time. I am so excited to connect with so many beautiful humans and watch the healing power of music as we tour this album in the fall.

Of her forthcoming debut effort, Kay previously shared with Music Mayhem, “It’s a product of the last year, but I definitely still have a few more songs before it’s done, and I just wanna make sure it’s perfect. It’s my first full-length project, and I wanna make sure that I give my fans something that they listen to and they know it’s me as soon as it starts spinning. And so I just want them to be as proud of it as I will be.”
