Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is undoubtedly one of the biggest draws of the year. In fact, when the trek wraps in the fall, it’s expected to bring in $500 million+ for the star and could also earn her the title of having one of the highest-grossing tours of all time, according to CBS News.
So it’s no surprise that the price tag to attend one of Swift’s shows often finds folks spending upwards of five thousand dollars on seats, travel, food, hotel stays, and more. So those who do shell out the money to experience the Eras Tour are likely to soak up every moment. But parents who bring their children to concerts may have to plan for the unplanned.
Such is the case with country superstar Walker Hayes.
The doting daddy of six children, including Lela, Chapel, Baylor, Beckett, Loxley, and Everly, and loving husband to wife, Laney Beville Hayes, recently shared that his 9-year-old daughter, Loxley, known affectionately as Lolly, fell asleep during a Swift concert, which he calls a “way-too expensive birthday gift.” The 43-year-old Alabama native even wrote a song about the experience and shared the original tune on social media.

Father/Daughter Duet
In the video posted to YouTube on Monday (June 19), Hayes turns the storyteller-style lyrics into a father/daughter duet with Lolly shown in the background. He and his child can be seen strumming on their acoustic instruments while Hayes takes the lead backed by his daughter’s gifted vocal and musical accompaniment.
“Two Taylor Swift concert ticket stubs / Cost me more than my mortgage does / And that was before T-shirts, Cokes, and popcorn / But, hey / I mean, how many times does your little girl turn nine? / Dave Ramsey wouldn’t like it / But it was priceless / Watching her watch her hero singing every single word to every song / In the nose bleeds smiling like we have VIP passes on / So enchanting / Til her bedtime struck like midnight, and she yawned / Climbed up in my arms / She was gone,” Walker Hayes sings the first verse of the song.

Throughout the at-home performance, Lolly shows off her smile, indicating that she knows her daddy wrote the tune all about her and her birthday gift. But it’s clear she isn’t in trouble as the lyrics in the song also point out how priceless it is for a father to get time with his baby girl.
“Who am I? That I get to hold a real-life princess / While she sleeps through her way-too-expensive birthday gift / I just hope that she grows up and always knows that me, her mom, and Jesus / Loves her even more than she loves, Taylor Swift,” Hayes sings the chorus of the song that shares the love he has for his family.
Shared A Duet With His Daughter At Red Rocks
This certainly isn’t the first time (and likely not the last) that Lolly has joined Hayes in song. Most recently, she stood onstage during the “Fancy Like” hitmaker’s headlining show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. The two joined forces for a memorable duet on Hayes’ “If Father Time Had A Daughter” – a sentimental ballad about squeezing in every moment with a daughter before she grows up.
“These are just some really really really good years. @redrocksco Thank you for perhaps the best show we’ve ever had. I am grateful. Will never forget this moment with Lolly❤️,” Hayes captioned a video of the performance on his Instagram page.
Additionally, Walker Hayes is currently in the middle of his Duck Buck Tour, which runs through Aug. 5 and features support from Chris Lane, Nicolle Galyon, BRELAND, Ray Fulcher, and Ingrid Andress.
