Country riser Ashley Cooke gave fans an exciting surprise during her Grand Ole Opry performance this past Tuesday (June 20) with the announcement of her debut album, shot in the dark

Due Friday (July 21), the Big Loud’s star in the making offered fans her first live performance of the record’s closing track, “state I’m in.” The party didn’t stop there – Cooke also gave listeners yet another taste of what’s to come with three brand-new tracks including “tastes like,” “shot in the dark” and “mean girl (feat. Colbie Caillat).”

“It’s A Huge Honor To Announce My Debut Album”

“The last year of my life has been crazy and wonderful in so many ways, but I think the next year might be even better…” revealed Cooke. “It’s been full of bucket list moments for me… I made my Opry debut, signed my first deals, went on tours with my heroes, and lived a lot of life in the moments in between. This album is about all of that — and it’s about the magic that can come if you really take risks in life and love.”

She continued, “It’s a huge honor to announce my debut album at a place that means so much to me. So, without further ado on July 21st, I’ll release my first album shot in the dark, and I can’t wait for each of you to hear it. Thank you to everyone who helped get me here, and thank you for making me feel so safe to take a shot in the dark.”

The Longest Debut Record From A Female Country Artist To Date

The Opry NextStage artist enlisted the help of some of country music’s hottest names to make her forthcoming album unforgettable, including collaborations with Caillat, Nate Smith, Jackson Dean and Brett Young. The 24-track project will secure Cooke the title of one of the longest debut records from a female country artist to date.

With pop country shot in the dark, the “it’s been a year” singer captures the essence of a twenty-something not afraid to take risks as she chases her dreams and paves her own path. Cooke bares her soul to listeners as she shares her truth packed full of love, heartbreak and every moment in between. Made sweeter by raw relatability and addictive hooks, the Parkland, Florida native’s introductory album gives fans a front row seat as she fearlessly jumps into the rollercoaster that is life.
