Country music superstars Trace Adkins and Luke Bryan have teamed up with pop/hip-hop icon, Pitbull, for Adkins’ “Where The Country Girls At.” Today, the unexpected trio appears in the new music video for the single off Adkins 25th-anniversary album, The Way I Want to Go.
During his “Track By Track” series on social media, Adkins described this single as “a cool little romp.” He then went on to explain how Bryan and Pitbull became a part of the team. “They talked about getting Pitbull on this thing and I said, ‘you can ask him, he’s probably going to say no,’ but he didn’t, and I love what he wrote for the song, I like the way it turned out. We had a lot of fun doing it,” he explained.
The video, directed by David Rousseau, showcases the artists in their own worlds, Bryan and Adkins in Nashville, TN and Pitbull in Miami, FL, on a fancy yacht. Before it’s release, Adkins posted a teaser clip on social media, where he and Bryan are seen conversing and wondering where the third member of their collaboration is.
Pitbull is shown sailing around on his yacht, while his female passengers pour the drinks made with Espanita Tequila, the brand which Pitbull recently became an ambassador for. The footage flips between the pop singer’s voyage and Luke Bryan’s 32 Bridge Bar on Broadway in Nashville, where Bryan and Adkins are having a rowdy dance party of their own.
“I loved it. Having Luke and Pitbull adding their talent makes this a special video for me,” Adkins said in a recent interview. “A honky-tonk, country girls, a song they can dance to, and Pitbull on his yacht. It’s a wrap!”

This is not the first time country music has intertwined with another genre, such as pop or hip-hop. In fact, in 2005-2006 Adkins had two pop-crossover hits, “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” and “Ladies Love Country Boys.” Another featured artist outside the country genre that can be heard on The Way I Want to Go, is Snoop Dog for the track, “So Do The Neighbors.” This album combines tradition with adventure for Adkins, who explored his creativity and reached outside the box for each single.
Bryan is no stranger to the pop-party anthems, as we see from his hit single in 2011, “Country Girl Shake It For Me,” his 2013 album, Spring Break…Here to Party, and so many more.
Pitbull has also dabbled in the country music scene before. In 2019, Pitbull brought in Blake Shelton to collaborate on his single, “Get Ready” off his Liberated 548 album. Before that, in 2016, he was featured on Keith Urban’s “Sun Don’t Let Me Down.”
Whether they’re in a nightclub in Miami or a honky-tonk rooftop in Nashville, it’s no secret that these artists like to have a good time and get their listeners up on their feet, dancin’ the night away with their high energy hits.
