Thomas Rhett appears in a brand-new TV commercial!
The country hitmaker stars in Fritos’ first TV commercial in 20 years dubbed “Down For Everything.” On Monday (Feb. 28), the chip brand shared a 30-second clip of the ad spot on YouTube, captioned when we say everything, we mean it, which you can watch below.
The commercial finds the “Slow Down Summer” singer playing a game of “this or that” with a friend, munching on the popular corn chip snack, while hanging on his tour bus, on a fishing boat, and working on his truck. Throughout the clip, Rhett asks his friend “this or that” questions like “Back roads or highways?” “Mild or Spicy?” “College or pro sports?” “Labs or poodles?”
The two friends were faced with a “tough” question when they were in the chip aisle at the grocery store and needed to decide which kind of Fritos that they wanted to buy, which Rhett’s friend replied, “that is a tough one,” before grabbing one of every flavor off the shelf.
The clip concludes with Rhett asking his friend “rock or country [music],” prompting his friend to laugh before the five-time GRAMMY nominee added, “don’t answer that.”
The chart-topping singer/songwriter also soundtracks the commercial with his new song, “Church Boots,” which appears on his upcoming new album, Where We Started.
Rhett, a father of four, recently opened up about the clip to PEOPLE, where he shared that the Fritos brand allowed him to do whatever he wanted to that he felt fit him.
“They gave me full rein to just be super me,” Rhett told the outlet of the clip. “It brought back a lot of memories from my childhood, and everything about it just felt really nostalgic to me.”
In a recent interview with Taste Of Country, he also shared that Fritos are “a chip that’s literally been around my family ever since the day that I can remember being alive.”
He continued, “I can remember going back into my grandparents’ kitchen and they’re making chili and they’re crumbling up Fritos and putting them on the chili, or eating a Frito pie at a tailgate or a football game.”
Rhett also told the outlet that “It was just a lot of fun to be involved in a brand that has been so solidified over the past almost 90 years. And getting to film a commercial with them has been really fun.”
