During a recent concert on Rhett’s Center Point Road Tour in Bristow, Virginia on Saturday (Aug. 28), the country superstar teased fans with a new song that pays tribute to he and his co-writer Morgan Wallen’s Grandmas as well as Grandmas around the world.

Rhett told the near-capacity crowd at Jiffy Lube Live that he and Wallen co-penned a song together via Zoom back in 2020 before he performed “Mamaw’s House,” a song that finds the singer taking fans down a country backroad to visit his grandmother.

“About midway through to 2020, Me and Morgan Wallen wrote a song together and I just kind of want to set the scene for you a real quick because obviously this was 2020 and we were writing the song over the dang internet, which was crazy,” Rhett explained to the crowd.

The Georgia native continued to shared that neither him or Wallen liked the song they were writing and they were about to just give up on the track. That is before Wallen’s Grandma called him and inspired them to keep writing.

“We were writing a song that neither of us liked at all and I finally had to come to the point of like ‘hey dude, like neither of us like this, let’s just either quit or write something else,” Rhett continued. “And right about that time, his grandmama called him on the phone and he goes ‘Hello’ and she goes ‘What cha doin’ Morgan? This is your Mamaw calling, what cha doing?’ And Morgan was like ‘Oh, I’m just writing a song.’”

The “Country Again” singer then added that he and Wallen realized that both of their Grandmas are from East Tennessee, so the song just came naturally after that.

“I was like ‘oh where’s your mamaw from?’ and he’s said ‘East Tennessee’ and I got a Mamaw in East Tennessee and this whole song kind of came together so super natural,” Rhett added. “So we wrote this song about our Grandmamas so if y’all got Grandmamas, this ones for you.”

“If every nightstand had a Bible / Every front porch had a swing / If every backyard had a garden / Every front door had a screen / Yeah maybe this crazy world would straighten up / And slow on down / If every town had a mamaw’s house,” Rhett sings in the clip shared by a Wallen fan page on Instagram.

In early January during an interview with Country Now, Wallen shared that while he isn’t a fan of Zoom writing, he did write one song with a “couple of buddies and Thomas Rhett” too that ended up being a “successful Zoom write” as “the only song” he wrote during quarantine was with Thomas Rhett.

Although, Wallen didn’t specify what song he and Rhett wrote on Zoom, it’s presumably the song that Rhett previously teased on Instagram in late Summer 2020 called “Mamaw’s House.” Back in August 2020, Rhett teased fans with the song by sharing a clip on Instagram performing “Mamaw’s House,” a track that he said he wrote with his “good buddy,” Morgan Wallen.

Fans are hoping that the duet/co-write will appear on Side B of Thomas Rhett’s forthcoming Country Again project.

You can watch Rhett’s original song teaser below.

“Mamaw’s House” is not the first collaborative project the superstar pairing have worked on as Rhett is listed as a co-writer on several tracks on Wallen’s record-breaking double album, Dangerous, including “Whiskey’d My Way” and “Your Bartender.”

Additionally, Rhett is set to appear on CMA Summer Jam, this Thursday (Sept. 2) at 8/7c on ABC.
