Scotty McCreery performed one of his “favorite hymns” in celebration of Easter!

On Sunday, April 4, the country singer shared a clip of himself singing “The Old Rugged Cross,” a popular hymn that was written in 1912 by George Bennard. The song went on to be performed by country singers including Alan Jackson, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, John Prine and more recently Carrie Underwood as well as many others.

Additionally, McCreery recently signed a deal with Universal Music Publishing Nashville as well as released a music video for his latest single “You Time,” a video that features the country singer’s wife Gabi.

He is currently writing and recording the follow-up album to his fourth studio album, Seasons Change. The new album will feature “You Time” as the lead single on the project, written by McCreery alongside Frank Rogers and Aaron Eshis. The song has already amassed over 11 million streams since its debut and continues to climb the country charts.
