Ahead of the 57th Academy Of Country Music Awards, Parker McCollum was crowned New Male Artist Of The Year!
The news was announced on Friday morning, March 4, after the fast-rising country star was surprised by his musical hero Miranda Lambert via video chat.
McCollum, who was expecting to do a last minute interview, joined a Zoom call and was shocked to see Lambert on the other end of the call. When Lambert popped on the screen, McCollum appeared to be confused and moments later Lambert delivered the exciting news of his big win.
“I’m telling you that you won New Male Artist this year for the ACMs,” Lambert told McCollum.
“Are you serious?” McCollum said in shock, before Lambert replied, “I am so serious.”
“I’m like getting blurry vision right now,” McCollum added before questioning his win, “Are you joking? You’re dead serious? I Won?”
Lambert then promised McCollum to shared “a cold one” and a “toast” with him next time she sees him as she admits she is “real proud” and “happy” for the “To Be Loved By You” singer.
“You’re representing our state for us,” Lambert, a fellow Texas native, gushed, before McCollum added, “This one’s for Texas no doubt, this is wild.”
McCollum will also perform during the coveted awards show ceremony.
Co-hosted by global icon Dolly Parton, Gabby Barrett and Jimmie Allen, the 2022 ACM Awards will take place on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
“I am so excited to be hosting the ACM Awards on March 7 from Vegas. Watch for us because we’re going to have some fun,” Parton previously shared.
For the first time ever, the show will stream on Prime Video in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, rather than on CBS. This marks the first time a major awards show has livestreamed exclusively.
The show promises to be a nonstop party, bringing legendary artists together with today’s favorites for exciting and unexpected collaborations, surprising moments fans will never forget, and world television-premiere performances.
