Miley Cyrus and David Byrne paid tribute to the late David Bowie during Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party on Saturday (Dec. 31).

Joined by new-wave icon, Byrne, the international superstar performed a cover of David Bowie’s classic hit, “Let’s Dance.” Cyrus and Byrne were accompanied by a full band during their buzzed about duet of the Bowie hit.

Donning a royal blue suit, white shoes and a headset microphone, the 70-year-old Talking Heads’ singer blended his vocals with Cyrus’ powerhouse pipes as they danced along to the iconic track.

“(Let’s dance) put on your red shoes and dance the blues / (Let’s dance) to the song they’re playing on the radio / (Let’s sway) while colour lights up your face / (Let’s sway) sway through the crowd to an empty space,” Cyrus, wearing a shiny pastel mini-skirt, and Byrne sang.

“Let’s Dance” is the lead single and title track of David Bowie’s 1983 album, which is also Bowie’s 15th studio album. The tune, which went on to become one of Bowie’s biggest-selling tracks, was solely written by Bowie and produced by Chic’s Nile Rodgers.

Together, the pair also performed Byrne’s “Everybody’s Coming to My House,” the lead single from David Byrne’s 2018 album, American Utopia.

For this performance, Cyrus changed into an olive green mini-skirt, while Byrne remained in his royal blue suit. Cyrus and Byrne gave the tune a refreshing sound as they brought it to life with their unique dance moves.

“Now everybody’s coming to my house / And I’m never gonna be alone / And everybody’s coming to my house / And they’re never gonna go back home,” Cyrus and Byrne sang on the tune’s chorus as they danced in sync.

In addition to performing alongside Cyrus, Byrne also joined special guest Sia for a duet of her chart-topping hit, “Unstoppable.”

Sia kicked off the performance on her own before Byrne joined her during the song’s first chorus. The two hitmakers remained on stage together to finish out the song together.

“I’m unstoppable / I’m a Porsche with no brakes / I’m invincible / Yeah, I win every single game / I’m so powerful / I don’t need batteries to play / I’m so confident / Yeah, I’m unstoppable today,” Byrne and Sia sang in perfect harmony.

Additionally, Cyrus performed several other times throughout the star-studded broadcast. She performed alongside Dolly Parton, FLETCHER, Sia, Paris Hilton, Rae Sremmurd, and more during the show.

While co-hosting and performing during the New Year’s Eve celebration, Cyrus also announced a brand-new single titled “Flowers,” which is available now for preorder/pre-save and will arrive on January 13, 2023.

Co-hosted by Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton, Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party aired on live on NBC from Miami, Florida on Saturday (Dec. 31) from 10:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. ET and also streamed live on Peacock.

This year’s edition of Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party marked the second consecutive year of the New Year’s Eve special.

Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party also featured an A-list lineup of musical performances and special guests, including Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, Latto, Liily, FLETCHER, Rae Sremmurd, and SIA.

In addition to an epic lineup of performances, Saturday Night Live’s (SNL) Chloe Fineman and Sarah Sherman as well as comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy also made appearances.

“The lineup is very me. It is curated in a way that makes no sense, but makes total sense,” Cyrus previously explained of the lineup during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Last year, Cyrus co-hosted her New Year’s Eve Party alongside Pete Davidson. The 2021/2022 installment of the show, which drew in over 6.3 million viewers and was the No. 1 trending New Year’s Eve special on Twitter, featured performances from Jack Harlow, Billie Joe Armstrong, Brandi Carlile, Saweetie, Noah Cyrus, Anitta, 24kGoldn, Kitty Ca$h, and more.
