Machine Gun Kelly’s Grease 2-inspired musical film, ‘Downfalls High,’ was released on Friday (Jan. 15).
Downfalls High was narrated by the “Bloody Valentine” singer and blink-182 drummer Travis Barker.
TikTok star Chase Hudson (Phoenix) and Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney (girlfriend to Phoenix) starred in the film as a couple trying to navigate through high school while dealing with struggles that some high school students face. The clip also featured appearances by Maggie Lindemann, Trippie Redd, Blackbear, Iann Dior, Siiickbrain, Lil Aaron, phem, Omer Fedi and Landon Barker.
The film was written and directed by Colson Baker and Mod Sun, and featured a full storyline alongside live performance clips and was soundtracked by Machine Gun Kelly’s latest chart-topping album, Tickets To My Downfall. The clip encompassed all 14-songs from his album into 1 visual album which was dubbed a “first if it’s kind musical film experience.” Downfalls High was created over the course of just “4 days,” according to producer Abi Pearl.
“We’re making a new pop-punk Grease,” MGK previously told NME. “It was almost like shooting 14 music videos back-to-back, but with a narrative that’s outside of my personal life stories. It focuses on other characters, and then me and [Barker] are just the narrators. It’s an interesting concept because it hasn’t been done for an album ever, maybe outside of like Pink Floyd’s The Wall.”
