Luke Combs kicked off his much-anticipated Middle of Somewhere Tour on Friday (Sept. 2) with a sold-out show at the Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor, Maine. During the show, he surprised a group of young fans in the pit by offering to cover the cost of their concert tickets.
In the midst of his set, which according to social media posts included performances of songs such as “Doin’ This,” “Cold As You,” “One Number Away,” and his latest single, “The Kind of Love We Make,” Combs paused the show to interact with fans who had a clever sign in the crowd that was inspired by Combs’ single “When It Rains It Pours.”
“We made $100 bucks stacking 5 cords of wood, bought 2 Luke Combs tickets. Man he sounds good. Our Dads swore it was a waste of time oh but they were wrong! Todays my 12th birthday, oh Lord When It Rains It Pours,” the handmade sign read.
After realizing that the children worked hard for the money to purchase their tickets, Combs immediately offered to repay the birthday boy and his friends for their tickets.
“Okay, I got a question for y’all, what’s up buddy? How much did it cost y’all… How much were you tickets? $100? $200? Y’all paid $200, a hundred dollars a piece. Oh my God, I think I only got $140 right here. Y’all want that, pay yourselves back. I’ll get you some more,” he told them while sitting on the edge of the stage.
He asked a member of his team to get a pen to sign some of the young fans’ things, including their cowboy hats, some Luke Combs merchandise and more.

Luke Combs Even Met The Birthday Boy And His Friends/Family Backstage After The Show
The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year then took things a set further when he invited the group of young fans, which consisted of birthday boy Bo and his brother Tanner as well as his cousins Jackson and Josie, to meet him backstage after the show.
“This is Tyler right here, Tyler is going to come find you guys and I’m going to get you guys a bunch of shirts and stuff. I’m [also] going to make sure to say hi to you after the show okay?” he promised. ”Good work guys, I paid you a little bit, I’ll finish paying you back later on, I promise. That goes right into this next song pretty well. This next song’s about being proud of the small things, it’s called ‘Does To Me.’”
Combs then performed his chart-topping hit, “Does To Me,” a duet that originally features Eric Church.
Following the show, a relative took to social media to share a photo of Combs with the young fans backstage.
“@lukecombs our wish came true last night and we got to meet you. Never thought it was really going to happen,” the relative wrote. ”You made our night and my cousin’s bday thank you so much we will never forget it. You are the best and your show was awesome can’t wait to do it again.”

Bo also told us that it was an unforgettable birthday.
“Luke was amazing, it was the best birthday ever and the best concert I’ll ever goto,” the 12-year-old told us, before graciously thanking Combs, “Thanks, Luke, for the tickets.”
The Middle of Somewhere Tour will return to Maine Savings Amphitheater on Saturday evening for a second sold-out show. The tour will resume in Green Bay, Wisconsin on September 16 and 17th.
The remaining dates of the Middle of Somewhere Tour will feature direct support from Jordan Davis and special guests Lainey Wilson and Morgan Wade on select dates.
Following his Middle Of Somewhere Tour, Combs will embark on a Canadian headlining trek with support from Riley Green and Chayce Beckham in November.
Luke Combs released his latest album, Growin’ Up, in June. The project debuted at No. 1 upon its release and features the chart-topping hit, “Doin’ This,” Combs’ current single, “The Kind Of Love We Make,” and “Outrunnin’ Your Memory,” a duet with Miranda Lambert, among several others.
