Lainey Wilson brought her latest single, “Watermelon Moonshine,” to life with a cinematic music video that takes viewers on a nostalgic journey back to the bittersweet memories of adolescence and a first love.
Directed by Stephen and Alexa Kinigopoulos, the video flawlessly captures the essence of young love and beautifully portrays the raw emotions and innocent vulnerability that come with it.
The clip follows Rachel Lynn Matthews as she reminisces about her past and the boy who stole her heart, played by Sam Sherrod. Throughout the video, Lainey Wilson’s soulful voice narrates the story, her lyrics echoing the emotions felt by the characters on screen.

The “Watermelon Moonshine” music video is a beautiful tribute to the rollercoaster ride of teenage love.
“I’m so excited to premiere the ‘Watermelon Moonshine’ music video. This song is about the young, wild, crazy love that we all hope to experience,” Wilson shared in a statement. “From locking eyes for the first time, to playing spin the bottle with an Ole Smoky mason jar, to being too crazy about each other to tame it, I am so happy with how Rachel Lynn Matthews and Sam Sherrod brought the vision to life through their portrayal of their innocently passionate characters.”
Transported Wilson Back To Her First love
Filming the music video transported the Louisiana native back in time to her first love.
“It’s the love that makes you feel like you’ve got somethin really special that can’t ever be taken away. Filming out in the pasture brought me back to those days and made me feel right at home,” she said. “I’m real proud of how this one turned out and hope y’all love it too!”
To celebrate the launch of the music video, Wilson teamed up with Stanley, an innovative food and drinkware brand, to launch a limited-edition Stanley Quencher H2.0 FlowState™ Tumbler in a “Watermelon Moonshine” color. The tumbler is available to purchase HERE.
“Watermelon Moonshine”
Co-written by Wilson alongside Jordan Schmidt and Josh Kear, “Watermelon Moonshine” is a nostalgic ballad that finds the reigning ACM Female Artist Of The Year reflecting on young love.
“Drinkin’ watermelon moonshine / Cut the burn with a little lime / Parkin’ back in them kudzu vines / I was his and every bit of that boy was mine / Too young to know what love was / But we werе learnin’ on a sweet buzz / There’s never nothin’ like the first time / And mine’s always gonna taste like / Watermelon moonshine,” Wilson sings on the track’s chorus.
New Album, Bell Bottom Country
“Watermelon Moonshine” appears on Wilson’s latest album, Bell Bottom Country, which arrived on October 28, 2022.
Bell Bottom Country features 16 tracks, including the chart-topping “Heart Like A Truck,” “Atta Girl,” “Smells Like Smoke,” “Hillbilly Hippie,” “Grease” and the heartfelt “Those Boots (Deddy’s Song),” which pays tribute to her father, Brian Wilson.
“I’ve lived quite a bit of life the past few years, and I have a lot more to say,” Wilson shared of the new album. “Sure, I love a good pair of bell bottoms, but Bell Bottom Country to me has always been about the flare and what makes someone unique — I have really embraced mine, and I hope y’all can hear that across this project.”
