Kelsea Ballerini surprised the capacity crowd in Boston with a special guest!

The singer/songwriter and Tennessee native was joined by her duet partner, Paul Klein of LANY, at Fenway Park in Massachusetts on Friday (Oct. 1) for a performance of their fan-favorite song, “I Quit Drinking,” marking one of the first live showcases of the song in front of a live audience.

The unforgettable performance of the infectious tune took place during Ballerini’s support slot on the Jonas Brothers’ Remember This Tour. During their memorable performance, complete with stunning visuals that match the music video for the track, the superstar pair flawlessly traded verses throughout the song, while also harmonizing during the track’s chorus.

Watch their performance of the fan-favorite duet below.

Ballerini dubbed the moment one she will never forget in a post alongside photos she shared on Instagram.

“Paul Klein flew straight from London to surprise the crowd last night and this is one of the reasons why we have no choice but to stan,” Ballerini shared of the performance. “Hearing 30,000 of y’all sing our song was absolutely a moment I will never forget.”

Co-written by Ballerini alongside Klein and Nicolle Galyon, “I Quit Drinking” finds the two singers detailing how a breakup led to a decision to become sober, as the taste of whiskey, champagne & other alcohol reminds them of their ex. The song also paints the picture of a couple who shared fun times drinking together but now without each other, those moments don’t mean much anymore.

“I’ve been a fan of LANY for a long time,” Ballerini previously shared of the collaboration. “It was really amazing to work together on ‘I Quit Drinking.’ We’ve all got Tennessee in common, and we found this sweet spot between rock, pop, and country for the song. It’s a little different for the both of us.”

Earlier this year, the superstars shared a cinematic music video, directed by Blythe Thomas, for the anthemic track, which finds the two singers singing together in the pouring rain, washing away the hangover of a past relationship and the memories of an ex, in a visual that’s reminiscent of the rain scene from drama film, The Notebook.

Additionally, the superstar pair first debuted the new song with a live performance during the 2021 CMT Music Awards. The pair performed the song on a rooftop in downtown Nashville, overlooking The Ryman auditorium.

Ballerini is currently in the midst of her supporting slot on the Jonas Brothers’ Remember This Tour. While LANY will soon kick off their highly-anticipated GG BB XX tour in just a few days on October 5 in Montreal, QC.
