Fans attending Keith Urban’s new Las Vegas residency at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino got quite the surprise when the superstar showcased rare footage of his and Nicole Kidman’s 2006 wedding.
While the couple is known to support each other at various high-profile events, their private life usually remains just that. However, fans got a glimpse of their nuptials during Urban’s performance of his 2010 hit, “Without You.”
“I wanted to do it in a very organic way and find the right song,” Urban told PEOPLE of the decision to include the footage during his headlining engagement. “It was really more about choosing to do that song, ‘Without You,’ and how that felt like the right time for that.”
He added, “I don’t know if that’s her favorite song, but it was the right one for the footage.”
Of course, the country superstar received Kidman’s blessing to share “just a little bit” of their wedding footage during Keith Urban: The Las Vegas Residency.
In a fan-captured video, clips from the wedding, including place cards with “Keith” and Nicole” written on them, shots of their wedding bands, and more can be seen on the big screen behind Urban and his band.
The images flash across the screen as Urban sings the sweet love song, which includes the lyrics, “The traveling, the singing, it don’t mean nothing without you/ The fast cars, the guitars, they are all just second to/ This life, this love that you and I have been dreaming of, for so long/ It’d all be as good as gone, without you.”
The news comes after the couple attended the 2023 Oscars together at the 95th Academy Awards (The Oscars) red carpet.
The country superstar and the award-winning actress strutted down the red carpet hand in hand at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Urban, wearing a classic all black tuxedo, and Kidman, donning a gorgeous custom black Giorgio Armani Privé high leg slit gown complete with silver beaded roses, walked the carpet with big smiles on their faces. Styled by Julia von Boehm, Kidman paired her elegant gown with diamond jewelry and black strappy heels. The power couple, who have been married for 16 years, also shared a kiss in front of the red carpet photographers.
Urban and Kidman were also joined by Aussie actor Sam Rechner, who appears in the film, The Fabelmans.
Urban recently extended Keith Urban: The Las Vegas Residency with the addition of eight shows in November. The show was built custom for the Zappos Theater stage and features a career-spanning set list including chart-topping hits like “Somewhere In My Car,” “Somebody Like You,” “Blue Ain’t Your Color” and “Wasted Time,” plus a few songs he’s never played live before.
The set list for the nearly two-hour show took Urban quite some time to assemble and remains fluid night after night.
Of performing in Las Vegas, Urban says he wouldn’t trade it for anything.
“I love it. I love the energy, I love the audience,” he previously shared with Country Now and other media outlets. “The audience is always different. Night after night, even a Friday night, it’s gonna be different. The next Friday night is different from the one before. It’s always unexpected.”
Tickets for upcoming shows are on sale now.
