Cobra Kai viewers were shocked during Season 4 of the popular Netflix series when country superstar Carrie Underwood made a surprise cameo in Episode 9.
The seven-time GRAMMY winner made a surprise appearance on The Karate Kid spinoff, which she is known to be a big fan of.
Underwood, donning a red leather mini-skirt and jacket, performed a cover of Survivor’s “The Moment Of The Truth,” a song that also appears in the 1984 film, The Karate Kid.
Underwood’s performance took place at the All Valley Karate Tournament where the Cobra Kai, Miyagi-Do, and Eagle Fang dojos faced off against each other.
The chart-topping hitmaker’s appearance shocked fans and caused quite a frenzy of excitement on Twitter.
The cameo comes after Underwood expressed her love for the show on social media in late August 2021, which caught the attention of the show’s creators, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg.

“Just started watching #KobraKai on Netflix. Ummmm…it’s kinda awesome!” Underwood shared at the time. Underwood later acknowledged the misspelling of the show’s name.

“Guess I could’ve at least spelled it right. I promise I do know how to spell Cobra…” Underwood shared, correcting her previous tweet. “I just legit thought that’s the way it was spelled in the movie/show. I’ll do better next time. #CobraKaiNeverDies”

Despite Underwood misspelling the show’s name, Creators were excited that they found a fan in the Oklahoma native. Each of the creators then tweeted Underwood to welcome her into the “Dojo.”
Carrie Underwood's secret Cobra Kai cameo wasn't just a dream for fans, but for Carrie too because it's one of her favorite shows! While chatting with Decider, Heald, Hurwitz and Schlossberg revealed how they scored Underwood to perform on the show.
“We had the idea that it would be ‘Moment Of Truth’… but we wanted to tempo it up a little bit and give it a ‘You’re the Best Around’ feel to use it in that sort of way — but put a spin on it because it’s a live performance and a surprise performance,” Schlossberg explained.
Schlossberg continued, “[Underwood] was really game. We reached out personally to her through mutual connections, and she couldn’t have been more excited and more gracious and more willing to get on her tour bus and come down and spend a day with us. It was just a love affair on both sides. She was excited to be working with us; we were excited to be working with her. She worked with our composers in terms of the arrangement and the recording and the mix, and it could not have gone smoother.”
Cobra Kai season 4 was released on Netflix on December 31, 2021. To celebrate, Underwood planned a Cobra Kai watch party on New Year’s Eve and sported a special souvenir from the set.
“Tonight’s plans involve champagne and @cobrakaiseries ! I’m pretty sure @william_zabka stole this from wardrobe to give to me, but it’s being put to good use! 🐍 🐍🐍 🦅 🦅🦅 🥋 🥋🥋🥂🥂 🥂 cheers, everyone,” Underwood shared on Instagram.
