Carrie Underwood welcomed a very special guest to stage during her REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency on Saturday evening – her mom, Carole.
The country superstar surprised the audience inside the Resorts World Theatre when she invited Carole to join her in singing her chart-topping hit, “All-American Girl.”
“Come here, my love,” Underwood motions as she took her mother’s hand and walked with her to center stage. “This is mom! Are you ready? Do you have anything you want to say to these fine people?”
“I’m so happy you’re here and I hope you enjoy the show,” Carole responded as fans cheered.
“She said she knows the words and I think she does,” Underwood said before prompting her band to begin playing the song. “Ready? 1, 2, 1, 2, 3 – hit it!”
The mother-daughter duo went on to perform the song together and the seven-time GRAMMY winner even let her mom take on a few solos throughout the performance.
Carole held her own on stage and at one point, mimicked one of Underwood’s signature moves, prompting the “Ghost Story” singer to laugh and sweetly say, “I love you.”
Underwood documented the moment on Instagram with several photos alongside a sweet message for her mom recalling her mother’s encouragement and support throughout her musical journey.
“‘If you wanna go, I’ll take you.’ These might have been the most pivotal words anyone has ever spoken to me. I was busy talking myself out of trying out for American Idol and my mom said these words…the rest is history,” she wrote. “Tonight, I got to sing with her on stage in front of the most incredible crowd in #LasVegas ❤️ Life sure is amazing! Thanks, Mom, for everything!”
Following the on-stage collab, Underwood said, “Give it up for mom!”
They shared a hug and a kiss as she exited the stage.
This isn’t the first time that the mother/daughter pair has shared the stage.
Carole previously joined Underwood in October of 2019 on the Cry Pretty Tour, where they performed “The Champion.”
“Nailed it! I kept trying to keep her on track! 😂” Underwood captioned a clip of their performance at the time. “At the end she said, ‘Did I do OK?’ Who knew Mom could rap?!”
The duet comes just days after the release of Underwood’s much-anticipated new single, “Ghost Story,” which is the lead single from her yet-to-be-announced new studio album.
