Carly Pearce slipped and fell onstage during her performance of “Next Girl” at the Delaware County Fair in Manchester, IA, on July 14. However, in an impressive turn of events, the 33-year-old Kentucky native recovered from the incident like an absolute champ.
Slips And Falls In The Midst Of Her Performance
The incident took place as she was in the midst of performing the fan-favorite hit during the fair at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. While delivering a passionate performance of “Next Girl,” Pearce unfortunately slipped and fell as she attempted to make her way down the catwalk.
Recovered Like A Champ
Pearce then promptly regained her composure after the fall, got back on her feet and delivered a strong performance of the track, which appears on her third studio album, 29: Written In Stone.
“I bet you probably met him at a bar / Let him walk you to your car / I bet he said he never falls this hard / Yeah, I remember that part / He knows how to say all the right things / Knows how to get you outta that dress / Knows how to make you think you’re the best thing / But I know what happens next, girl,” Pearce continued to sing.
She then told the crowd “one of you is gonna put that on the internet and I’m gonna die” before walking towards the back of the stage to prepare for her next song.
“I Sure Busted My Booty Tonight”
Later that evening, Carly Pearce took to social media to poke fun at the situation and to search for a video of the hysterical moment.
“Well there’s a first time for everything and I sure busted my booty tonight in Iowa,” Pearce wrote on Twitter before asking, “Who has a video? 😂”
One fan quickly replied, letting Pearce know that she found a clip of the mishap on TikTok. “I actually found it on Tik Tok. Bless your heart!!! Are ya ok???” the fan said.
She also poked fun at the situation, which marked her first-ever onstage fall.
“First fall on stage, better make it count 😂🙈🤦🏼♀️,” Pearce captioned a funny clip she edited together of her falling to the beat of Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl,” which you can watch below.
Launched New Musical Chapter With “We Don’t Fight Anymore”
The news comes after Carly Pearce stepped into the next chapter of her musical journey with the release of “We Don’t Fight Anymore” featuring Chris Stapleton.
The tune, which arrived on June 16 via Big Machine Records and impacted Country radio on June 20, finds Pearce channeling the reality and complications of a relationship.
While the couple in the narrative longs for a way to reconnect, it appears that loneliness and a feeling of distance are what ultimately bring their story to a close. She explains that even though nothing has gone terribly awry between the pair, the relationship cannot survive on the lack of connection at play.
“This song embodies a place that I think, if we are honest with ourselves, we’ve all felt at some point in a relationship. The distance that feels heartbreaking, yet you’re also indifferent.” Pearce shared of the track on social media. “I’ve always been a writer who never wanted to shy away from the ‘uncomfortable’ moments in all of our lives, and this song feels too important not to share.”
Honest Lyrics And Striking Vocals
Pearce has always been one to let her heart guide her songwriting. In this case, her incredible ability to capture the disheartening yet mature emotions made for an exploration of honest lyrics and striking vocals.
“We don’t yell ’cause what the hell difference would it make / We don’t cuss and we don’t care enough to even hate / We could tear up the house, we could burn the whole thing down / But boy what for / ‘Cause we don’t even fight anymore,” Pearce and Stapleton sing on the chorus.
Co-written by Pearce alongside frequent collaborators Shane McAnally and Pete Good, the song is further elevated through Stapleton’s captivating talent as it intertwines with Pearce in a set of dreamy harmonies.
Pearce Said Her Duet With Stapleton Is A “Dream Come True”
“Having Chris Stapleton join me on this song was a dream come true and he unlocked an element to the story that I didn’t even know it needed,” she added.
“We Don’t Fight Anymore” marks Pearce’s debut as a co-producer as it was produced by McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Pearce.
Additionally, it serves as the first release since her critically-acclaimed third studio album, 29: Written In Stone.
