A Minnesota groom surprised his bride with a special performance from Brett Young during their wedding on October 16 at The Minikahda Club in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Luckily, the couple had Northern Lights Video on hand to capture the unforgettable moment that the newlyweds shared with Young.
After a brief speech from Matt, the groom, to his bride, Penny, the groom surprised his wedding guest with a special performance from the country superstar.
“So, tonight, I’m pretty excited, we talked a little bit about surprises tonight,” Matt shared. “There’s somebody that can sing this song a little bit better than I can, and his name is Brett Young,” the groom told. “Brett Young is here, he is straight out of Nashville. We’ve got some Ole Miss fans, he was a baseball player at ole Miss. And Brett Young is here tonight and guess what, he’s got six No. 1 tracks in Nashville. Penny’s my beautiful believer and I’m so thankful that you’re here.”
Young then entered the wedding reception with his acoustic guitar, taking a seat center stage, directly in front of the sweetheart table.
“Congratulations guys, Thanks for having me,” Young said before performing for the couple.
After the country hitmaker and father of two serenaded the couple with a performance of their favorite song, “Beautiful Believer,” a track that appears on Young’s Self-Titled major label debut album, he invited the newlyweds to the dance floor for their first dance.
“Well I’ve never done this part of this part before, but I would like to invite the Bride and Groom to the dance floor for their first dance,” Young said as the couple made their way into the center of the dance floor.
Young performed his chart-topping hit, “In Case You Didn’t Know,” as Matt and Penny swayed along for their first dance.

Days after his surprise appearance at the wedding, Young released his holiday duets project, Brett Young & Friends Sing Christmas Classics, which is available now everywhere.
The project features 8-tracks, of which 7 are duets, that make up a star-studded list of collaborations. The project includes his previously released cover of “Silver Bells” as well as collaborations with Darius Rucker, Colbie Calliat, Maddie & Tae, Chris Tomlin, Dann Huff, Phil Wickman, and Sam Fischer.
“I’ve always known that I wanted to make a Christmas album one day, it was just a matter of figuring out how I could do something a little bit different,” Young shared in a press release. “We tapped into an old school, lo-fi sound with ‘Silver Bells,’ and knew we had the blueprint for a full album. It means the world that so many incredible artists who I respect were open to singing with me on the project… we don’t take the title ‘Brett Young and Friends’ lightly!”
Earlier next month on December 8, Young will perform some holiday classics during CMT Crossroads Christmas: Brett Young & Friends.
The show will air on Dec. 8 on CMT, and will feature stars like Caillat, Rucker, Gavin DeGraw and Maddie & Tae.
