Walker Hayes was recently awarded an Applebee’s Gold Card and shared what the honor meant to him while co-hosting Country Countdown USA on June 17 alongside Lon Helton.

Having been awarded the gold card, Hayes can now eat free at any time at any Applebee’s restaurant for the rest of his life.

“I was awarded an Applebees Gold Card,” Hayes told Helton. “From now on, for the rest of my life, I can eat free at any Applebees, and at any time.  They’ve been so grateful for what [my song, “Fancy Like”] has done for them,” he explained.

Hayes name checks the popular restaurant on his mega hit, “Fancy Like,” which appears on his most recent release, Country Stuff: The Album. The song blew up on TikTok after Hayes posted a video of him and his oldest daughter Lela dancing to the catchy tune. The song’s viral impact also eventually wound up leading to a brand partnership between Hayes and Applebee’s, with “Fancy Like” being featured in one of the restaurant’s commercials.

And while Hayes is flattered by Applebee’s extending the gold card honor to him, he admits he’s a little worried by it.

“I never used to care if I lost my wallet.  But now I worry because the Gold Card is in it,” Hayes revealed during his conversation with Helton.

The honor follows Hayes and his wife Laney’s recent trip (June 13) to Applebee’s in celebration of their 18th wedding anniversary.

In a series of social media posts from their date night, Hayes and wife Laney chronicled their anniversary trip to the restaurant, showing off their gold card, which they used to pay for their dinner bill, in one video.

“Gonna drop that gold card?” Hayes asked his wife while filming. “Let me hear it hit the table.”

“I’m a bit embarrassed, aren’t you?” Laney responded, still holding the card. “This [card] legit weighs a lot.” Laney then went for it and dropped the card on the table, causing a loud crash, which prompted both her and Hayes to laugh.

“Didn’t know it was gonna be that loud,” Hayes said of the card hitting the table in a text overlay written on the video.

In another video, Hayes and Laney enjoyed some spinach drip while discussing the high and low moments of their marriage. “Date night,” Hayes captioned the social media post, tagging Applebee’s and adding a 💪 emoji.

Aside from sharing about his love for Applebee’s on social media, Hayes is hitting the road this summer on his Glad You’re Here Tour.

He also released a book of the same name back in May alongside his good friend Craig Allen Cooper.
