Trace Adkins recently revealed who he’d want to appear on his new FOX drama, Monarch.

Adkins, who plays Albie Roman on the country music-focused series, says he’d like to see Blake Shelton make an appearance on the show.

“I think we should bring Blake Shelton [on and] let him play my stupid younger brother,” Adkins said, according to Fox News Digital. “That’s kind of what he is anyway.”

Though Shelton is not yet included in the show’s star-studded line-up, Shania Twain, Little Big Town, and Martina McBride will appear on the series, also according to the outlet. In addition, Susan Sarandon stars opposite Adkins as his wife, Dottie Cantrell Roman.

While an appearance from Shelton on the show remains to be seen, he’s keeping busy at NBC’s popular singing competition, The Voice. And when asked by Fox if Adkins enlisted Shelton’s help in preparing for his new acting gig, he was pretty blunt.

“Blake’s thing is a completely different animal,” Adkins explained, adding, “You can’t compare that stuff.”

Shelton’s gig may definitely be a different thing, but that didn’t stop him from being excited for his pal, Adkins. The “God’s Country” singer shared a series of throwback photos of the pair together at various events to wish Adkins well on his latest venture.

“So excited about @TraceAdkins and @MonarchOnFox season premiere this Sunday that I had to prove that he and I truly are friends now that he’s actually going to be famous,” Shelton joked on Twitter.

Another reminder before @MonarchOnFOX premieres tomorrow that I actually DO know @TraceAdkins… Although he’s probably going to be an even bigger asshole now with this success,” he wrote in a subsequent tweet.

Besides Shelton, Adkins recently shared he thinks a well-known athlete has the potential to be a country star.

Adkins appeared in a FOX NFL Sunday promotional spot, tossing it back to Terry Bradshaw at the end.

“Now back to the desk and a country music star in his right. Take it away, TB,” Adkins said. “TB” was accidentally mistaken for Tom Brady, prompting Adkins to continue the joke on social media, writing, “I think @TomBrady could be a country music star.”

“After all, @blakeshelton did okay, so it can’t be that hard,” he added.

Monarch premiered on Sept. 11 on FOX. The show now airs on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m.
