Toby Keith & His Team Issue Warning About “Imposter Profiles” Sharing “Falsified Updates” On His Health

Toby Keith and his team have issued a warning to fans on social media that there are “imposter profiles claiming to be Toby” appearing on social media.

On Monday evening (June 27), Keith’s team took to the “Peso In My Pocket” singer’s social media profiles to share a message with fans, letting them know of the situation.

“We are aware of the many imposter profiles claiming to be Toby on social media, but it’s come to our attention that some of these accounts are now posting falsified updates regarding Toby’s health,” the message read. “We are working to get these removed.”

Keith’s team then let fans know that all of Toby Keith’s official social media channels will have a blue check mark next to his name.

“Any updates will come directly from Toby’s verified social media pages,” the message continued. “As a reminder, Toby will never personally contact you or request money and you should report any accounts claiming otherwise.”

Keith’s team also shared screenshots via his Instagram stories, showing fans the fake accounts and labeling them with a red “scam” sticker, which you can see below.

The news come after Keith revealed that he was diagnosed with Stomach Cancer earlier this month on June 12.

“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax,” Keith wrote at the time. “I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait,” he added.

After revealing his cancer diagnosis, thousands of fans and several artists took to the comments of the post to offer their prayers and lend their support to the Oklahoma native.

“Damn bro. Hate [that] ur dealing with that, but if anybody can kick Cancer’s ass, it’s you. Prayin for ya big man,” Jason Aldean wrote, while RaeLynn said, “Praying for a full healing in your body!!”

“Pulling for ya man!” Jake Owen commented, echoing Aldean’s sentiment. “You’re one of the toughest guys out there. You got this.”

“Love you @tobykeith we’re all devastated to know you’re going through that and praying for you, sending love your way ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻,” Jamie O’Neal shared.

Prior to sharing the unfortunate news with fans, Keith hosted the 18th Annual Toby Keith and Friends Golf Classic, raising more than $1,380,000 for OK Kids Korral, the cost-free home for families of children being at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $16 million for the organization.

In light of Keith’s diagnosis, the country hitmaker was forces to cancel all of his upcoming tour dates, including his headlining spot on Rib Fest, according to Keith’s rep, who confirmed the news to Taste Of Country. As a result, all the dates that were listed on Keith’s website have since been removed.
