Growing up as the son of Rhett Akins has some benefits as he had a very successful country music career throughout the ’90s. Akins is the father of Thomas Rhett, who got the opportunity to spend lots of time around other country superstars as a kid.

For instance, Rhett remembers going to Reba McEntire’s house with his family for Halloween parties when he was younger and is recalling a moment at a particular party that he remembers very well.

“Reba’s son, Shelby, I think we’re about the same age, and we were at their Halloween party one year.  And I remember us racing back and forth to this barn, and I think I kept beating him in this race,” Rhett recalled. “And I think he was a little bit older than me and bigger than me and he put me up against the wall, you know, around my neck.”

He continued to elaborate on the moment saying that he remembers “reba comin’ over and snatchin’ Shelby” off of him and then putting them both in timeout.

“I mean, I had to have been five, maybe five, to be put in timeout.  I hope that I wasn’t like, nine or something and I was in timeout,” Rhett said.

Who else can say that Reba McEntire put them in timeout or that they attended Reba’s Halloween parties as a child, well Rhett can!
