Taylor Swift recently broke Shania Twain’s long-standing record on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and now Twain is reacting to the news.

In late December 2021, a Swift fan account on Twitter shared the news that the superstar has now become the female artist with the most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart.

With 98 combined weeks atop the coveted chart, Swift surpassed Shania Twain’s 97-week run on the chart with the following albums: Taylor Swift (2006), Beautiful Eyes (2008), Fearless (2008), Speak Now (2010), RED (2012), Fearless Taylor’s Version (2021) and RED Taylor’s Version (2021).

The news comes as Swift’s album, RED (Taylor’s Version), sits atop the Top Country Albums chart for a seventh week.

When the news surfaced on Twitter, Twain couldn’t help but to react and show her support for the “Fearless” singer.

“Let’s Go Girls!!!! Proud of you @taylorswift13. Historical records are meant to be made and then broken,” Twain said on Twitter, reacting to Swift’s achievement.

“The baton is meant to be passed on to new generations,” Twain added. ”Unstoppable young female country artists are 🔥 inspite of the hurdles ✊ #trailblazers”

While Swift may have surpassed the Canadian superstar’s record on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, Twain remains the top-selling female country artist of all-time, with more than 90 million albums sold worldwide and U.S. sales topping 34.5 million.

In addition, Twain’s album, Come On Over, is the best-selling studio album in Soundscan history by a female artist in any genre and the best-selling country album of all time with over 40 million units sold worldwide.

The news came just weeks after Twain wished Swift a happy birthday on Instagram.

“Happy birthday to an incredible entertainer, a super talented soul, someone I take great joy in following, my dear friend @taylorswift 💖,” Twain captioned a photo of her hugging Swift on Instagram.

As Swift continues to share her re-recorded projects, Twain returns to Las Vegas for her Let’s Go! Residency at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood on February 11. Twain’s Vegas Residency continues through September 2022.
