With summer coming to a close plenty of casual dating relationships will go right out with it. And Selena Gomez has the perfect song for assisting folks in making that transition thanks to her brand new catchy song, “Single Soon.”

The intoxicating dance track, which dropped on Thursday (Aug. 24), finds the 31-year-old pop star and Rare Beauty founder trying to figure out the best way to blow out the candles of a Summer Fling.

“Should I do it on the phone? Should I leave a little note,” she asks herself as she plans to say goodbye to her current love interest. She then prepares herself for her new beginning, which starts with a fresh outfit and accessories to match.

I’m pickin’ out this dress / Tryin’ on these shoes / ‘Cause I’ll be single soon / I’ll be single soon / I know he’ll be a mess / When I break the news / But I’ll be single soon / I’ll be single soon,” Gomez unapologetically sings throughout the chorus of the song, produced by Benny Blanco and Cashmere Cat. “I’ma date who I wanna / Stay out late if I wanna / I’ma do what I wanna do / I’m pickin’ out this dress / Tryin’ on these shoes / ‘Causе I’ll be single soon / I’ll be singlе soon.”

Upon releasing her track, Gomez also debuted the music video for “Single Soon.” In the clip, she looks glam, trying on different outfits from her fancy wardrobe. She ups the sass while looking excited about her newfound freedom of single hood.

At one point, she awaits her girl squad at a restaurant, and the group celebrates the night with drinks in hand to get their party started. The fun clip prepares folks to let loose as the seasons begin to change.

Forthcoming New Solo Album

Gomez began teasing her new song on Instagram earlier this month while also telling fans that she’s in the process of working on her next solo album.

“Y’all have been asking for new music for a while. Since I’m not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while back that’s perfect for the end of summer. SINGLE SOON. August 25th. Presave it now. 😘,” she captioned alongside promotional photos relating to her latest track.

She later shared the introduction of the song, which features a voicemail from her 10-year-old sister Gracie Teefey, which says: “Hi. Love you, sissy. Never worry about boyfriends. At all.”

“I’ll be single soon… song and video are out at 9 pm PT! 💗,” Gomez wrote alongside a snippet of the music video for the track.

The New Album Will Have A Theme Of Freedom

Gomez previously opened up about her forthcoming project with Vanity Fair, saying, “The theme generally is freedom — freedom from relationships, freedom from darkness. If I had my way, I would probably write ballads my whole life, but I want to produce music that will make people smile.”

While SG3 is still in the works, the album and single will follow Gomez’s 2021 Spanish-language album Revelación and 2020’s Rare.

“Single Soon” also follows Gomez’ stand-alone track “My Mind & Me,” which coincided with her previously released Apple TV+ documentary of the same name, as well as the success of her No. 1 smash collaboration, “Calm Down” with Rema.
